Blue, Roxy, other exercisers??

I have a couple of questions for all the exercisers/fitness gurus on the board. I have been working out with weights a few times a week. Normally I use 5 pd. dumbbells for my arms. As you know, Blue, I carry my weight in my upper body.

Of course it's the workout talk! It seems we are on the same page. I don't even know you, but I thought it would be kind of fun to ask. I can see you know where I am coming from and didn't get all weird on me. I hesitated when I posted, 'cause I didn't want to ruin the fun we have been having and also the journey we are sharing.

Can you be melted?.........

Well looks like Kirche is stuck with me looking this way then because not all of us have that kind of time. Maybe when the girls are grown and I am retired but right now I am once again

I completely understand where you are coming from!! I don't want you to think that I live my life around this. I get up early to get it out of the way, so that I have my whole day in front of me. It was very difficult to find time to do this. Also, whey you are doing all the family stuff, it just wears you out. I remember the exhaustion-mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical-that comes from raising a family. It is so difficult.

Maintain, maintain. I talk to the guys in my department who are raising little kids through teenagers and we speak so much about how hard it is to care for ourselves, and we are the health and pe teachers. Don't give up, just work at what you do. Besides, I think you are pretty fine, if you don't mind me saying. TiNG, too.

In finding balance, I think I am working at achieving that. Part of my workout is to balance the stress that has come into my life since around 2000. My son has been through some very difficult things and it has been agonizing. I am going through some life changing things of my own, and working out has helped. I wish I had been able to find time to workout in 1989, when horrific things were happening. It took me seven years to recover from that episode.(another story)

I don't think that Kirche is "stuck" with anything. How can you say that???? Don't be miserable, just be healthy. THAT is the real, true goal about living in your body. I'm sorry if I seemed to come on so strong with this. I never want people to become discouraged or feel uncomfortable with themselves, especially you.

Hi Blue!

Mind if I join in? I too am raising two young ones alone and have yet figured out how I could join a gym with no extra time to spare. I thought of maybe purchasing something to use at home but not sure what would be best. Any suggestions to get the ball rolling would be helful. Roxy, I welcome your opinion also.
Thanks!

(((Coly))) Balance and feeling good is a good thing. I so agree!

Exercise and eating well works for me to help manage stress and keep my energy up. The way my biology is set, i cant afford to eat the "normal" American diet without paying a price. I stopped all kinds of symptoms (bad joint pain, sadness, anxiety) when i changed how i treated my body. The rest is really good side effects i think but not the focus. Antidepressants just did not work well for me so i needed to find an alternative. I only devote a hour to 1.5 each day.

But i hear you. We all make the best choices we make. I think we all do the best we can. The motivation has to be internal, i think. So dont read any pressure here. I'd hate to think we made you feel this way. (((Coly)))

I cant imagine how hard it is working around food. I breakfast that is protein based is so critical i think because it stabilizes blood sugar. I have been known to eat TUNA for BK on a WASA fiber craker with tomato slices on the side. Anytime I have a challenging day, i eat tuna for BK...i dont care how weird it looks or sounds because it works.

All i know is when I eat the other stuff, I feel so crappy, so fast. It changes me view on things. I start getting down and seing how HARD life is instead of how I am being Guided...wierd. I know. Just what I experienced.

Walking! Can you do that? Isometrics too. Jump rope as your cardio skills get better?

Thanks so much Blue and Roxy!!! We will have fun putting together play lists, Blue! I look forward to it. I'm sure you've got lots of stuff I like.

I will continue with the weights. In the past I haven't stuck with them long enough to see the results I want. I'll keep at it and see what happens. We have been going to the gym 3-4 times per week in the last month and hope to keep that up. That's about all we can fit in right now as Caly said. I do 30 minutes of cardio each time (combination of running on the treadmill and elliptical).

I know what I'm supposed to do regarding my diet. But, again as Caly said, it's difficult with two kids. I'm trying to cut some carbs and eat less in the evening. I'm on a medication that is lowering my metabolism and causing me to crave sweets and carbs. Ugh...not good. Anyway, I've decided I won't totally give up sugar unless I have to for a health reason. Like Blue, I enjoy a piece or two of dark chocolate, and if I'm anywhere near a Dairy Queen, I will stop for a Blizzard! I can do that because we don't have one any where nearby (the closest is probably 10 miles away). A treat like that every now and then adds some spice to my life!

I know it's hard work and won't happen overnight, and I realize that I will never be the
