Blue, Roxy, other exercisers??
| Tue, 06-19-2007 - 11:21am |
I have a couple of questions for all the exercisers/fitness gurus on the board. I have been working out with weights a few times a week. Normally I use 5 pd. dumbbells for my arms. As you know, Blue, I carry my weight in my upper body.

Hey Srg. Blue!
When are you starting the program???
First tell us ahead of time what kind of music we should start putting together. I need music to get me going! *L*
Giving birth and exercising!
Talk about multi-tasking. Isn't that taking the Superwomen syndrom to a new level? *grin*
On the other hand, this could be a new way to guilt your kid into exercising by saying "hey, I got you on tape! I started out training you to exercise but you just dropped the ball. It's not my fault you didn't become Richard Simmons."
I'm kind of the opposite. I don't feel like eating much right after exercise, but later in the day I get really hungry. It's a huge balancing act.
LOL I'd say that would be the ultimate in multi-tasking AND pain. No thanks!
Tbis is the way I am. In fact, if the time passes I don't feel like eating at all. I need to be asleep by around eleven, though, or my stomach starts rumbling and I can't concentrate enough to get to sleep

Ok, I'm gonna Sneak right in here..been absent for a while. Caly, remember those legs pains I have been having and have been doing a round of different specialist to determine what is happening? After MRI's, Vascular tests, EMG's, Nuerologists, now blood tests, they Still don't know what all the pain is about. However.....I now have pre-diabetes. Sh*t!
So not only do i need to eat differently (no more emotional eating), it's time to get on the stick with the physical work outs.....something I have been wanting to do all along ! But pain has prevented me...and it's Not just from being overweight and lack of exercise.
So now I am told just to load up on the Naproxen before walking or any vigorous activity...and basicly, "buck it up" and grin and bear it. I also have a high level of protein in my blood and we still don't know what that means. Waiting on results of second test.
But doc gives me the go ahead to start swimming, Curves, using my free weights at home (and resistance bands) and new thing I have found and want to try called NIA...combo of martial arts, dancing, aerobics etc... freestyle and for Every BODY.
I have also wanted to do the body building with my partner (she is a former body builder anyway).
I believe the Hardest part of the whole lifestyle change will be the eating part: freakin' measuring, counting calories....and I am not good on Willpower ladies. Sheesh. I know that I made it to 17 years of sobriety in May.....but I can barely remember my weekly schedule ! I will be seeing a Nutritionist soon, supposedly to keep me Accountable.
And my lady is very supportive. Says" She'll be my Motivation". Huh ! People did not keep me from Drinking....but she's cute anyway.
Good topic : Oh, and hey, BLUE, got any Pics of you ??(smirk) Olympic Baseball team , huh ? Sounds like one of the Characters of my cartoon : Getting Real.
Thanks for listening...good to be back.

Hey Brandy!
Brandy, welcome back!
Sounds like you have been through the wringer. I think that at first it will be hard for you, because of whatever is going on with your body. I am also hoping and really think that, if you stick with a good diet and exercise, a lot of your problems will go away. Lots of mine did. You will also find yourself not wanting the junk stuff so much. Keep theh Naproxen handy, but then it will slowly fade away. The pre-diabetes diet should be a big help. Just remember as with most things that we talk about on this board: go slow, take baby steps. The worst thing you could do would be to jump into something full steam and then not be able to walk the next day.
Do you really have to count calories? I mean, in my head I kind of keep a flow of what is going in, but counting calories is really hard. TiNG has a real good suggestion about cutting portion size and also waiting until the ghrelin hormone gets turned off, before deciding if you want to keep eating.
Finally, in the old thread "Good Things," Caly posted a pic of me umping a state softball game. I think it is post 71 or 72. It's up there aways. For any more pics, you will have to call my agent. LOL
Hugs
