I love that version of the joke too! A good friend of mine loves to tease me about that since I was always so anti-uhaul-syndrome and then I not only moved in with Jamie after less than three months, but we also immediately started talking about babies. We're not actually planning to start TTC anytime soon, but we talk about babies and baby names and such ALL THE TIME.
We are not planning on TTC until January 2010........I graduate December 2009.We won't talk about my pounding biological clock! But, we have had a baby girl name set in stone since VERY early in our relationship. We chose this name the first night we lived together. We kick around baby boy names nearly every day, we can't agree on anything! Our friends thought we were slightly insane in the begining, but we knew we were in it for the long haul. Now they constantly ask us when we are going to start making babies.
I love this thread! It's been great to read through all the responses.
I personally have not yet ran into the UHaul type of woman, but I know it would scare me! I do think though that women are more emotional and seem to have a great sense about each other and their relationship, so that those women that do move in together fairly 'quick' know what's up. I know that I am head over heels for my gf right now, and would love to spend every second with her....but, I also savor the fact that I still have my own place and space. I like that I can go to my own house and be alone. I'm not ready to give up that freedom....yet. We have talked about moving in eventually, but I want to wait at least a year, until I'm done with school (at least the on campus portion). We've also talked babies....which is crazy! She doesn't ever want to be prego, so she'd love for me to carry hers. We've been together 2 months and exculsive a little over 1. It's hard for me to compare relationships with men, because my heart was never really in it....but it seems that relationships with women are soooo much more emotional. But me, very analytical, would say I feel that way because I have been lesbian all along! Anywho....back to the original subject....I can't imagine coming on so strong, although I know sometimes I think living with my gf would be absolutely AWESOME! I want to wait and make sure it's a long term thing....I don't want to be in a lot of live in relationships.
That sounds so much like us! I just finished school (though I want to go to law school eventually, so I'm not really DONE done) but Jamie is just starting back so she can change careers. She'll probably be done in 2010 and we'll start TTC immediately after that...if we can wait that long. Neither of us are ready right this second, but our biological clocks are ticking LOUDLY and I don't know that we can wait four years. In the meantime, we spend tons of time with our "practice baby" (ie, the baby I nanny for) and we obsess about names. We have a couple of options set in stone, but the way we combine them is still up in the air. If you ever want to throw around boy names or just chat in general, send me an email through the link in my profile and we'll obsess about babies to our hearts content without boring the rest of these ladies to tears. ;)
 It sounds like your baby fever is just as bad as mine. I'm going to hazard a guess that I've got a few years on you! I just turned 31 and Shelley just turned 41. So we will be 33 and 43 TTC our first baby. Shelley will be nearly 50 taking our kids to kindergarten. Oh well, I guess we are lucky that I am 10 years younger. We plan on having them as close together as possible because of my age. Our practice babies are the dogs and cats!
