A Ringing Sensation...

I have a very serious question, but I can't even believe I am asking. I am looking for pros and cons to this with reasons why.
I want to know if you think I should remove my wedding rings when I go to my union event this weekend or leave them on. I don't want to misrepresent myself, but I don't want to put people off. Okay, I know this is weird and it sounds really awful, but please remember I am new to all of this and am trying to find my way. Is this a terrible thought? Should I even consider it? I don't even want to ask my therapist this question on Tuesday, so I'm asking you.
Please be nice and break it to me gently.

I live with the "what will people think" thoughts every day, Blue, probably more so because I have children, but still....it's there. It's really, really hard to get those thoughts out of your mind when you live in a conservative area. I think we all reach a certain point, however (and it appears to me that you're getting there), when living your truth becomes much, much more vital than worrying about what other people will think, even though those thoughts are there.
It's all so complicated, that's for sure. Blah

Ya know, I think one of the reason so many Lesbians 'come out in their late 30s and 40's" is because its about that time that woman seem to come into their own anyway. And we worry less about what people think in general.
Thanks, TiNG. I get a little quesy thinking about it, but..
Of course, I will be able to keep up when I am away. I am hoping the Sheraton has free internet access, but if they don't, the union will pick up the tab, I'm thinkin'. Every detail will be coming your way (assuming there are details), and I will get to keep tabs on my buds here!
I am leaving tomorrow after I work out, get Odwalla Bars and camera batteries, clean the kitty litter box and feed the little buggers, return the DVD's that can't stay in the house, pack the cooler, and then pack the car. Should be leaving by around 9:30 am. I have a session sponsored the the LGBT caucus about safe havens for LGBT students in schools in the afternoon.

I also need to consider the children I teach, the parents of those kids, my employers. It's still very weird to be a school teacher here in the very Republican county. Openly gay teachers? Not in my 930 member union local. The president of our state association is an openly gay man, however.
I know that I am getting closer to the open truth, but it is just strange.

Yeah, Caly, you are probably right about lesbians who come out later in their lives. Wish I had done this earlier, but "if wishes were horses this beggar would ride." It's okay.
I've heard that saying before from someone profound, maybe even on this board.....lol

Well, ladies and SB, it's time for Blue's wild adventure ride. Probably be just another union gig, but, hey, they're fun.
I'm off to the big city to seek my fame and fortune, as they say. Thanks mich for the good wishes this morning.
All packed up, The U-Haul is attached to the truck. lol, it is NOT. I've got a few last minute errands to run and then I am heading East!!
