Find a Conversation

Well, women and SB. Here I am in the big city all alone. You will be somewhat proud of me. On Friday I went to a session on bullying in schools as it relates to GLBT kids. It was a very good session and I learned a lot. There was a woman there who is actually from my caucus(PA), who wanted to know why the GLBT didn't believe in "reparative therapy." I thought the co-chair of the GLBT handled her very well. Of course, now she knows my face and I think she will be trying to "save" me. She wreaks havoc in our caucus every year trying to "change" us. There was also a woman from the "Ex-Gay Caucus." I am not sure how that works.
Yesterday I joined the national GLBT caucus and got my toaster. lol. I also scored a ticket to the national dinner which, I think, is tomorrow night. I have a suit to wear, no dress, Caly. lol I am going with my two gay guy friends, Bill and Charlie. They are such a cute couple.
Today I stopped by the GLBT caucus table and bought some stuff. Candles and a necklace-all rainbow stuff. The female head of the national caucus was there and she is pretty hot. I tried to make conversation with her, but I was not too good. She did see me at the session, waited on me, and hopefully, we will get a chance to talk tomorrow night.
I am trying to get my nerve up to order a taxi to take me to a club here called Sisters. I have heard of it before, but I don't know much about it, and I am a little afraid of going alone. It is early, however, and if I get my this and my email cleaned up, I might try. Probably not, but the thought is there......
I am attending my first GLBT caucus session tomorrow over lunch. Charlie said it was a good place to "network." ;) Let's see how things turn out!
I will try and keep y'all posted. I had a devil of a time getting internet at the hotel, which is why I haven't posted sooner. Not like there is anything to post. I kind of made eye contact with this cute woman at the gym, but I think I scared her off. She vanished when I wasn't looking.
So that is the short story made long. I am having fun in general. Went to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in concert last night. She is one HOT woman.......... God. It was awesome and took a friend who stayed with me last night. Straight friend who knows. A good time. Today a guy and I took in the Phillies-Mets game and then my whole group went to dinner at a fabulous Italian restaurant. All is not lost.
Tomorrow the RA begins and my days are long and my nights short. I will try and post from the computer room tomorrow.

I wish Cat and I could be there to make a dancing sandwhich with you...
Go to the bar around 10 p.m.
Don't forget to take your toaster to get 10% off the cover charge. Someone might hold it for you while you dance.
Hugs,
Laurie

Glad ya checked in! Sounds like you're doing lots of networking. But do what feels right with respect to putting yourself "out" there even more. Take it all in and enjoy!

Just like Caly said, do what feels comfortable. I vote for getting Charlie and what’s his name and go if you need someone to go with you. I would ship Cat and Laurie down but they have other obligations to take care of so no sandwich dancing for now. *grin* *whispering ~ they’re practicing new movers as a surprise for you*
Don't forget to have some fun! *L*
Oh...I gotta tell ya...I love someone who can use words such as "vacillates" and
::hoppin' in a sleek white convertible, zoomin' over to pick up Cat & Laurie & goin' to the club to dance with you::
I'm so proud of you...wishin' I was there with ya!
Did you check my spelling or are you a naturally good speller also? Actually, I have a trophy sitting here from 5th grade that I won for a spelling bee. The winning word was fearsome. I'm rather proud of that trophy.
And how often does the opportunity arise to utilize the word "surliness" on a day to day basis? I mostly get to hone my vocabulary skills with my 10, 6 and 2 year olds.
But I have to tell you quickly what my 10 year old said. Actually, he was 9 at the time. He was upset with me about something but he isn't normally defiant or surly :-}. Anyway-a typical 9 year old may have said "I'm mad at you" or "I hate you". But my verbally expressive child said "My love for you has deminished". I love it. He has a way with words.
So, there is hope for the next generation also.

Just realized I misspelled "diminished" in my last post. I'm losing my touch. How ironic in a post about spelling!

Hey, Rogue.
Today I went to the National GLBT meeting and it was okay. Felt kind of weird. Didn't know a soul, but it is a first step. I think I am going to finish this up and go to Friendship Night back at the convention center and see if I can't drum up a "friend or two." lol Don't expect a lot.
I KNOW, baby steps. I'm trying. I think I am just hoping for too much. :(
