We bought Bikes today...

I have a very bad knee and have a hard time working out. Walking is very painful and Sheila suggested a bike.
I thought it might be painful as well, but if I use my hamstring and heel to peddle it is fine.
We rode to the state park and back today. I am feeling good except for saddle soreness.
We plan to ride every day before Sheila goes to work since she does not start until noon.
I figure this will keep my blood sugar down since it has been out of control.
Maybe it will help me quit smoking or I will add a little ashtray to the hanbdle bars. JK.
It was painful to smoke after riding so long. I had to put my smoke out.
We spent alot of time at the park today and had a great day once again.
Hugs,
Laurie

Congratulations, Laurie! Biking is great exercise. Do you have nice places to bike? One thing my friend did to help her quit smoking (not sure if she has been successful yet) is to look up pictures on the 'net of the lungs of people who had been long-term smokers. She said it totally disgusted her to think that her lungs might look like that (or may already) one day.

Good luck and have fun! Hugs

Hi Ting,
Yes, we have all kinds of good places to go bike riding. The State Park is only a mile and a half from the house. We rode to it yesterday and they have kazillions of bike trails. Plus we live in a residential area so riding in our neighborhood is really good too.
We rode over 2 miles in 15 mins. this morning. And will go again when Sheila gets home this evening.
It is a fun partner thing to do as well as an alone thing.
I am afraid of what my lungs look like.
Hugs,
Laurie

If you do wheelies, your hands will be too busy to think of cigarette.
Of course, I’m sure Sheila has better ideas on what to do with your hands beside wheelies...(she’s probably think you should wave like the Queen while doing wheelies! ;-)

Oh my God...this cracked me up.
You really don't need an ashtray...just let the cigarette hang seductively from your lips, and the ashes will blow away with the wind. ; )
What kind of bikes did you get? Now that is ANOTHER thing we can do when (if ever) you come and visit!
I have a mountain bike, and I bought a stationary (spinning) bike, last year, for when the weather's bad. (I NEED to be on them more often!)
Have fun...oh, and I am very happy to hear you both got helmets! Good for you! : )

Hi Roxy,
We are really enjoying the bikes. They fit right into my van and we take them over to the state park. The park is only about 2 miles from the house so, sometimes we ride them there too. I also ride around my neighborhood when I am feeling like just a nice easy ride.
I really just love my bike and it is providing lot's of good exercise for me.
It is also a very nice couples thing as we ride and talk etc.
And I am cutting back on the smoking.
Thank you for asking Roxy.
Hugs,
Laurie
