We bought Bikes today...

I have a very bad knee and have a hard time working out. Walking is very painful and Sheila suggested a bike.
I thought it might be painful as well, but if I use my hamstring and heel to peddle it is fine.
We rode to the state park and back today. I am feeling good except for saddle soreness.
We plan to ride every day before Sheila goes to work since she does not start until noon.
I figure this will keep my blood sugar down since it has been out of control.
Maybe it will help me quit smoking or I will add a little ashtray to the hanbdle bars. JK.
It was painful to smoke after riding so long. I had to put my smoke out.
We spent alot of time at the park today and had a great day once again.
Hugs,
Laurie

Listen, woman, if I ever catch a cigarette hanging out of your mouth while you are on your bike...well, you know what I will do.

I am proud of you cutting back. My MIL is a recovering alcoholic and she has said that stopping cigs is way worse than the alcohol. She claims to have quit, but we all know that she heads outside or to the bathroom for a smoke when she is stressed. We are such enablers. We just let it go. It's truly hard.

Keep up the good work.

Hugs

Haaaaa Blue,
I can't even smoke after I ride for a long time because it makes me choke.
And no, I don't know what you will do if you see me smoking while I ride but, I bet it won't be pretty!
Hugs,
Laurie

No, it wouldn't be pretty, but I think you could probably kick my a$$, so it would have to be a sneak attack.
However, as I am getting freer and older,I am finding myself doing things I would have never done in my youth or young adulthood. I am no longer as pure as I once was. lol

Smoking is just crap, though, On the rare occaisions when I have found myself taking a puff(and I know I look stupid, 'cause I have no idea how to smoke), I find myself coughing badly, so I truly know it can't be good for you. Somebody always slaps my hand and saves me. Hats off to you for trying to quit.

Keep on truckin'

Hey Laurie,

Congratulations on the bike. I think that's a good idea to get a bike and ride it first thing in the morning. That way, you can get your blood flowing and work off those extra calories.

I've done a lot of walking is past week, and I've been carrying around my book bag, that's enough to give me the exercise that I need and to lift a reasonably heavy weight. But I have to be careful, my bloodsugar has been dipping far too much than I think is necessary.

But all in all, everything's been cool with me. What kind of bike is it? Is it a 10 speed? or just a regular bike?

Keep up the good work,

Sebastian

Hi my friend,
Good to hear you are doing some good walking.
My bike is an 18 speed Power Climber. I go up and down alot of hills at the park.
I am really strengthening my legs and it feels so good. It helps my knee and is getting easier to go up and down stairs now since my hamstrings are getting into shape.
I did replace the seat with a bigger bike seat so I wouldn't have the saddle sores.
Good to hear things are cool with you. Things are cool here too.
Hugs,
Laurie

Not sure if I could kick anyones butt, maybe after I have been riding my bike awhile longer.
And yes, now that I have to go outside and smoke alone I do feel silly and it feels very uncomfortable. I can go a long time without a smoke now where before I could not.
Why on earth would you smoke if you don't smoke?
Hugs,
Laurie
