softball game. So I went last night. My ds was feeling a bit better, so I allowed myself some fun. Oh the sweet sound of that first ball hitting a leather glove-just sent tingles down my spine. And the ping of the bats and all the calls "full count", "let's rally", "nice butt"-oh wait-that was in my head. Sorry.

Anyway, it was nice to sit anonymously and watch the ladies play. I remember the comradery so well and longed for those days. The crowd was small, so I'm sure there were some people wondering who I was. Maybe I'll keep going and make some friends-who knows.

The blue behind the plate was not nearly as sexy as our Blue. Middle-aged, pot-bellied guy. The field was right in the landing path of planes coming into San Jose International and very near-so landing gear was down and everything. I think I breathed into a bit too much fuel-maybe added to the excitement-who knows. I'll take whatever I can get.

I'm slowly making my way into the community-I hope. I don't want it to feel forced or contrived. I need some friends and hopefully that will happen soon.

Oh-and I bought Curve magazine yesterday and openly read it at the gym. Just thought I'd test my own comfort level. Fun magazine.

Hugs,

Now don't you think I would have told you that earlier? You'd be the first to know-well-not quite the first.

Ok, to this non baseball fan...what’s a pull hitter? Were you pulling your pants up as you were hitting, is that the definition of a pull hitter? Or do you pull some lady back to the stand as you hit the ball out of the park so she won’t be hurt? BTW, you haven’t given us the score. Did the home team win? Did you win? *l*

Wait, what am I asking, forget the score! What’s the pull hitter? *wink*

Okay-forget the score.

I'm a right-handed batter-so when I say I "pulled" the ball, I usually hit to left field. I was always so damn anxious to get a hit-and I was pretty strong-that I swung fast and hard and "pulled" the ball. I had pretty good "follow-through". However, I don't think I was the most well-rounded batter-as I should have been able to hit anywhere.

Answer your question? If someone is left-handed and a pull-hitter-she would tend to hit to right field.

Blue's Stats

Throws left, bats right.
Plays first base or center field
Leads off or bats second. OBA around .850
Actual average-sucks
Will give up her body to make the play
ALWAYS looks to make the next base.
Speed-average, good for the long haul, though

Played in softball's infancy-the spirit is still willing, the body just laughs hystercially.

“Pulled”, “follow-through” I think these words can be applied outside the baseball field too. *L*

Yes, you did explained it perfectly. Thank you. Now I understand the jargon. I’m a righty so if I ever do manage to hit a baseball I’ll be pulling to the left, right? *grin*

Okay woman-stop it! "Will give up her body to make the play". That's me to a T. I can't tell you how many times I would eat dirt and risk body and limb just to catch a ball or dive into a plate. Even if we were getting our hides kicked (which was usually the case), I would sacrifice it all. I even did that once when playing ball with my students. I just can't not make the play. And I always had the opportunity at the hot box of 3rd base. Yeah-sometimes I got to 3rd base (grin).

Other stats-can't remember them all. Usually batted 2nd or 3rd in line up-occasionally played clean-up.

Gosh-my body may laugh-and cry at the same time. But I may be willing to try. Too bad you weren't closer-we could sign up together and make fools of ourselves together!

Yes-so many of those terms could be used in many ways!

If you were a righty and "pulled" the ball-yes it would be left field. However, just making contact doesn't guarantee you would pull the ball. Could go just about anywhere!

You're learning so much!

Now, what does THAT mean? Is it a reference to my stats? I was only speaking of softball here, Rogue. Your mind is deeeeeep in left field. Can I come play with you? ***Shameless unadulterated flirting here*** ;)
