Medical care and your partner..........

Shelley is going to the hospital tommorow for her sacro illiac injections for her back pain, it's just day surgery. This morning I'm gathering up paperwork to go with us.........copy of our domestic partnership decree with official state seal and her medical power of attorney. Shelley always thinks I'm so paranoid doing this anytime one of us has surgery, she thinks the Dr's will just allow one of us to speak for the other without question in an emergency. That's very true, they might.......but I never want one of us to be in a life or death position and for the other to be helpless.
And I do this every time, even though they have it in our charts that we are spouses........I just want to cover us. We both work in health care, I know how things get lost, or overlooked.

What bothers me is when I straight married couple go through something like this, they don't have to "prove" their relationship. If they say they are married, then they are......period. But, because we are gay we have to prove it. It's very sad.

T2, it’s not the gov. it’s the people. Government can’t do anything. It’s the people running the government that passed laws. The only way we get the rights we want on the book is to elect, elect, elect. We just have to give money and vote in the one that’s favorable to our interest. We just have to educate ourselves to see who’s on our side and vote them in or give to their campaign. We are making progress. We just have to vote more democrats in during this next election. I know this much, majority of democrat candidates are on our side. Get educated on who's on your side in your state and get them to Washington. *Smile*

I just thought I would update that Shelley's procedure this morning went just fine. It was actually the same nurse who cared for me when I had surgery in March, she remembered both of us. It was really fast, pretty much in and out. They gave her a good dose of versed so she would not remember what they did do her. She was in surgery for about 25 minutes, she doesn't really remember anything at all. She still has alot of pain though, but it can take a few days for these to start working.......if it will work at all. So, we are back in wait and see mode.

Oh I am very educated as to who is on my side, however it seems once they get to Washington, they forget who elected them because they are so busy trying to make everyone happy so they get re-elected and then there is the power of the rich lobbists who seem to be able to talk anyone into anything.

Get corruption out of Gov't and maybe we have a chance.

And don't worry I vote for every Democrat I can *sigh

Honey, if you won't consider marriage or a long term life committment/partnership, how can you stay on the list. You don't WANT to be on that list. Now, if you are looking for the safe sex, have a great time when I am in town list, I can pencil you in right at the top of the "dance" card. ;)

I don't know if we will see it. Look how long it took blacks and women and they still get screwed sometimes.
I will try not to explode though.
