Medical care and your partner..........

Shelley is going to the hospital tommorow for her sacro illiac injections for her back pain, it's just day surgery. This morning I'm gathering up paperwork to go with us.........copy of our domestic partnership decree with official state seal and her medical power of attorney. Shelley always thinks I'm so paranoid doing this anytime one of us has surgery, she thinks the Dr's will just allow one of us to speak for the other without question in an emergency. That's very true, they might.......but I never want one of us to be in a life or death position and for the other to be helpless.
And I do this every time, even though they have it in our charts that we are spouses........I just want to cover us. We both work in health care, I know how things get lost, or overlooked.

What bothers me is when I straight married couple go through something like this, they don't have to "prove" their relationship. If they say they are married, then they are......period. But, because we are gay we have to prove it. It's very sad.

Caly, I hate talking politic but, but, but I’m an optimist.

Yes, I know there’s corruption in Gov. Like there is corruption in baseball fields, boardrooms and familyrooms. I also believe people go into serving in the gov with good intentions. I also believe they fight within the gov. to keep their intentions good. All will succeed and fail at some point but that doesn’t make me feel like giving up or seeing everybody go into serving in the gov. as corrupt individuals or going to be corrupt individuals.

If they are trying to make everyone happy as you noted, aren’t the voters (you) one of the segments they are trying to keep happy? As for the lobbyists, not all lobbyists are rich, some good intention lobbyist like Greenpeace do have some clout in WA too. *smile*
Don’t feel so down with WA, we do have some good guys/gals working up there.

*L* Now I have to learn to dance too??? You sure are putting a “to do list” for me.

BTW, where did you get an idea I’m not into long term?? *grin*

Should you even be talking to me about this? Think about the ladies on that dance card of yours. Oh, you better let me see that dance card so I know who to bribe away. ;-) *waving to the ladies that are on Blue’s dance card*

Babe, I though ALL lesbians could dance. Right up there with seafood, left handed, and cool socks. You mean you can't dance????? I will teach you, although some of my methods may be a bit unorthodox. ;) We'll dance REAL close.

And it's not a "to do list." It's a "honey do" list

About the long term...I thought it was in this thread, but I can't find it. You mentioned something about marriage and "those of us who were not into it." Well, you didn't word it exactly like that, but that was my impression. If I was mistaken, I am sorry. In either case, can I pencil you in for Sundayand Sunday night? My Sunday regular seems to be a bit busy....... LOLOL

Hugs

Wow, it's stories like that which make me forever grateful to live in the state I do, and forever fearful to move.

I have to say that one of my greatest fears is that something will happen to Lisa & I won't be granted access to see her.
