Did you know that a study conducted in Blue's bedroom scientifically proved the existance of lesbian extraterrestials?????!! Well, maybe the bedroom is a poor choice of locations for this study. lol

Okay, what will they come up with next. Testing 20-26 year olds is not reliable, no matter what they say. Our culture bombards girls with pink everything from the very beginning. They have certainly been overloaded, sublimiinally and consciously for a long time. They have been culturally patterned for pink.

We give our kids lots of peanut butter and chocolate, but there are always a few who don't like them. That must be you with pink. Me? I can take it or leave it. I am a red girl. My kisses say so.

Hi Caly.
I like pink. It has to be the right shades though. And on the right things. Not everything looks good in pink.
I have some pink tops and two pairs of pink shoes, but they are like light pink with grey stripes.
I know it sounds bad but it is better IRL, lol.

When I was a little girl I hated pink with a passion, the only thing pink in my life belonged to a barbie doll. Even as a teenager I hated pink, it's only been in the last few years that it's grown on me. I own a shameful number of pink items, but it's not my favorite color. I love red, always have, always will. When I was a little girl my favorite book was "Ann Loves Red"..........maybe that is what influenced the obsession with red.....lol.

I don't have any friends, gay or straight who like pink as much as I do. They tease me relentlessly over it.......lol.

Well, I don't agree with the results at all. lol They must have either manipulated the group of women somehow or the questions they ask them, to come out with this stupid result. I do agree that the traditional pink & blue nonsense is programmed in clothes for little tots, toys, etc. When we had DD's first picture taken after she was born, we put her in green with a lacy bib. And gave her a name that could be feminine or masculine. The relatives kept writing or calling to ask if she was a boy or a girl. Didn't even put a bow on her bald head for the photo. rofl Many women friends do NOT like pink and do NOT wear the color. I wore it only a little, and I don't remember my mother making me wear a lot of it, either. Nor did she wear it. Once I discovered feminism, pink was the color of outrage against patriarchy and I avoided it like the plague. rofl Referred to the "pink collar ghetto" meaning office jobs where you couldn't get promoted out of the secretary pool and had to start there even if you had a college degree, unless you were male. I did not buy pink for my DD as a matter of principle. :) And, funny thing, she HATED pink even as a kid. She resented toys being all pink. Like she chose the She-Ra Princess of Power as her doll of choice because She-Ra wasn't a total wimp, but hated the fact She-Ra was always in pink/lavender. lol

"Did you know that a study conducted in Blue's bedroom scientifically proved the existance of lesbian extraterrestials?????!!"

LOLOLOLOL!

I agree that it's cultural programming, too. UGH! Mainly because all that behavior modification programming is wired in also by many parents, religions and society in general -- don't run if you're a girl, don't play hard like the boys, sit quietly and play with dolls, don't get dirty or play in the dirt. Gratefully, that was not part of my programming...nor my DD's. :) I do remember taking DD to something called Gymboree and sadly watching little girl toddlers all decked out in lacy pink frocks, being told by their mommies & daddies to not crawl, but always walk and not play on the mats so they wouldn't getting their dressy dresses all dirty. It's PLAY session, idiots! UGH! My DD came in corduroy pants and a flannel shirt or t-shirt, ready to get down and play. None of this don't get dirty stuff. lol

ML, hee hee

I did not dress dd in pink stuff either. The bedroom was done in green and orange zoo animals. I mean, I wasn't biased against pink, okay, maybe a little. I was never afraid that anything would "make" her gay or straight, because I knew better. I just never liked the mainstream little pink stuff for girls. When she got to pick clothes, she picked a variety of colors, and I guess pink was among them, but not the mainstay. DD always dressed to play, not "dressed to kill," but she does look killer when she dresses up. Dressed ds in whatever, sometimes maybe a pink shirt. He has one pink dress shirt now, but sadly, no lavender. Sounds like we raised our dd's similarly.

I was deathly afraid dd would end up being a cheerleader. (My apologies to cheerleaders out there). I never did anything to persuade her not to or talk about it, but I never signed her up for it either. My friends would rib me mercilessly when she was young about what I would do and I always said that I would support her. She started with gymnastics, 'cause I think it gives kids a sense of their bodies in spatial terms. Both of my kids took it. Funny thing is that my best friend when we were raising our kids had been a cheerleader and I was a jock. We used to laugh at how we would have NEVER been friends in high school, but wasn't it cool the way we had matured as adults.

I don't know that this has anything to do with sexual orientation. I don't like pink btw. But, I have a real hassle with purchasing darker colored women's athletic apparel. Like this past spring, I searched for 2 months trying to find a dark color in a cross training shoe. Finally, I found the size I needed in a men's shoe at Sears. I don't understand why shoe and clothing manufacturers assume that all women want to wear is white or pastels in workout apparel.

I have the same issue with running shoes. I would be hard put to find a black/silver running shoe in women's. And that's with any major manufacturer- Brooks, Adidas, Nike, etc. I run mostly outside. I even run when it rains or snows. I may pound a mud puddle here and there. Why can't I purchase a black/silver shoe?

I like to be color coordinated even while working out. LOL So, I've been lucky that I did find an orange/silver Pearl running shoes. And, I have an Adidas orange top with blue shorts. But, it was quite a hunt for that.

I don't do pink or flower prints.

Chmod:

I have found that Adidas has been good about work out apparel and shoes in the style that you want and I usually outlet shop. I'm not into flowers, frills, and pink for workin' out. Or anywhere for that matter. I'm a stripes girl.

Being the jock that I am and with what I teach, I have Adidas sneakers in the following:

Red-I mean really red
Medium Blue
Navy Blue
Silver/green stripes as in "Somebody stole my silver shoes."
White with blue stripes
Grey with orange stripes
Greyish blue same color stripe
grey with hunter green stripes

I got a pair of kind of brown athletic shorts, and I already had navy, yellow, and two black pairs. I bought a grey sleeveless top to work out in and a blue with yellow layered tank.

Okay, Ting, how am I doing? I can color coordinate my shoes with my outfits now, I guess. lol Not that I will. Nah, you know I'll look good!

Hugs
