I am wondering if we could list some good books, links, music that are helpful/supportive/uplifting for coming out, for moral support, etc.?
I've already added the music of Melissa Etheridge ;)
My only resources so far, besides some links to news online, which aren't really what I'm looking for, have been two books.
"The Preacher's Son" by Marc Adams
"Joining the Tribe" by Linnea Due
What started my awakening process was hearing Marc Adams speak at our UU church a couple of Sundays ago. I bought his book and read it in a very few hours. Something happened inside me, and I found this board. :P
The other book belongs to a friend of mine, who actually lent it to me a long time ago when my DD was a teen and exploring being bisexual, and it got buried in one of my bookshelves. I found it because I emptied the bookshelf in preparation for painting. So, perhaps the Goddess made sure I'd find it? lol She does that to me, now & again. ;) It's about teens, mostly, and their struggles, interviews with them, all around the country, but in some ways, it still relates to me and my journey, too.
So, any suggestions? ;)

I love sci-fi and fantasy.
As a kid I read most of Asimov, all of Heinlein, and all of Andre Norton that was available. Also, Bradbury. One of my favorite scifi is Stephen King's The Stand. It is best in long version and my favorite of his. I stopped reading King in the middle of Cujo, 'cause the whole animal thing bothered me so much.

I never mind anything you do, Ting. Once it's written, it's out there.

Oh, I love Stephen King's "The Stand," too! :)) I like to re-read it again every year or so and then watch the mini series afterwards. :P I'm not crazy about a lot of his other stuff. Just too weird or "dark" for me.

Found some good "stuff" while I was out & about today. ;))
I bought Melissa Etheridge's "Yes I Am" album. It was so great the words were printed to the songs so I could enjoy her voice and music and still follow along with the words. :P I especially liked "Silent Legacy," which someone quoted here. I think my fav so far, although that will change with more listenings, is "Talking to My Angel."
The library had Rita Mae Brown's "Venus Envy," so I checked that out along with Chastity Bono's book and another one, "Brave Journeys: Profiles in Gay and Lesbian Courage" by David Mixner & Dennis Bailey. Anybody read those?

I've only gotten started -- decided to have a fun read before the non-fiction stuff... :P I'm up to the part where the people received her letters and read them (and I read them). Can't wait to see what comes next! lolol
