Betrayal In The Garden
I watched as they gazed at the luscious fruit hanging low to the ground. He had forbidden them to ingest even a nibble of those tantalizing jewels.
I watched the woman argue with her mate, she did not want to be the first to break His rule and partake of that sumptuous repast.
I watched as her mate plucked a plump succulent fruit from the tree, handed it to her, told her to eat it. Told her that if she eats, then so will he.
I watched the confusion in her eyes as she looked at her mate then took the fruit from him and ate it.
No, it wasn't me, I was only an observer.
They call me a serpent now, my real name erased. Because I was there I lost my beautiful wings, He took them. Blamed me for their disobedience. Now I crawl through eternity on my belly.
Oh, He threw them out of the Garden, tossed them out to survive on their own. But can you not see what happened to her? What did not happen to her mate? The one who gave her the fruit. The one who tempted her in the first place?
Look around you, then grieve for her. Grieve for me also, for now she fears me as much as she loves the one who betrayed her.
