tired of the pain

I'm so sick and tired of the relentless pain I've ben having .It's not bad enough that I'm tired and feel weak but the pain is unbearable usually I can try to pretend to myself that it's not there doing other things resting reading listening to music distracting myself anyway I can but this is ridiculous it's every hour of the day and night .There is no relief in any joint or body part everything hurts.I thought the prednisone would at least take down the swelling but it doesn'tseem to help so I guess i'll have to go back to the doctor and tell him while it gets rid of the rash thats about all it does. My left knee is about three times it's usual size tonight and my left foot is swollen on the top of the arch about three times its size and it hurts so bad I can't sleep my hands are the same if you looked at the right side it's about twice the size.My back hurts my neck hurts everything hurts!URG I probably go back to the doctor and he'll throw up his hands and say I can't give you anything for the pain like he always does.I just don't know what to do my quality of life is non existent as I'm getting to the point were I'm on autopilot to function.I'm getting cranky with my family even when I try really hard not to be.I feel like I'm 101. Sorry for whining I'm just having alot of trouble dealing with this right now .thanks for listening Shilleagh

(((((( Shillegh ))))))

We're both in the same boat hunny. The difference is my 24/7 pain is from IBS, kidney stones, and major leg reconstruction. Right now I'm having a side effect from my Lipator which is kicking in my IBS.

Hang in there hunny, may I ask why won't your doctor give you something for pain ? Does warm or cold compresses help ? I wish I was there to take care of you, but a cyber hug is all I have. Also a very soft shoulder to lean on and cry if you need too.

Ever hear of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood ? I think we should be called the Owie-Owie Sisterhood ... whatcha think ?

Very gentle but loving hugs,

Robin

Oh, Shilleagh!! I am so sorry you are in so much pain! Huge hugs! WHY will your Dr. not give you something for pain?!? Honey, you need to kick his/her butt!!! Camp out at their office and refuse to leave without pain meds. There is no excuse for them not to help you. Your pain at this point is even visable, they can see it. Stand up to them, unless there is a good reason you can't have pain meds. They work for you, don't let them dismiss you. GGGRRRR As you can tell, it makes me soooo mad for someone to be treated that way. If that Dr won't help, have you seen any other Drs thatmight? I think it's time to look for a new one. I am so terribly sorry. I wish I could help you. You want me to come beat up the Dr? LOL He'll listen when I get done with him!
You ARE NOT whining. Don't think that. I am praying for you. I hope you are able to get relief TODAY! Call that Dr, and don't take no for an answer. Please, please for your own sake be firm that you can't live like this. I know how hard it is to deal with Drs when you feel like that, but they can help (if you make them!)

I will be praying for you, sweetie. I sure hope you get relief! Let us know, ok?

Love and hugs,
Sandy

I'm so sorry that you're suffering too! That IBS is really miserableespecailly on top of kidney and leg reconstruction. The owwie sisterhood huh sign me up. I had a kidney damaged in a former surgery and because of that my doctor is always saying there is nothing I can take .It also is acting up a bit.My stomach muscles and some scar tissue are still acting up from the ovarian surgery I had in April(they haven't healed)so I'm in pain from that as well. So I decided that's with everything acting up he needs to send me to a pain specialist who can actually figure out what I can take and I call the doctor this morning and got a message that he's gone until the day after labour day.Urg.Now I guess it's grin and bear until I can get an appointment and some help. thanks for the kind words gentle hugs and hopeful some releif coming your way as well .shilleagh

Thanks all for your kind words .I did contact fibrobesty but unfortunately the doctor recommended by some other people had some problems and is no longer practicing .The only other place I could go seems to be Toronto but when my doctor contacted someoen there they said they would get back to me (which my doctor says is what they say when they really can't fit you into their patient load)I'm going to go with the demand for apin specailist and it's time for the sleep clinic test ass well that my doctor said he would set up .Sleeping might help as well. Thanks for all your warm words and concerns everyone .I truly appreciate it .Gentle hugs shilleagh

I also don't know what's behind them not giving you pain killers.....but no one should suffer like you are....

Aren't there any other alternatives if they won't give you those?

"If that doctor won't help you, find one who will. "

Truer words have never been said!

The problem with going to your doctor and DEMANDING pain killers is that they automatically peg you as drug seeking. The more you insist, the more they think their point is made...that you are addicted. It is a loose loose situation.

If I hear one more doctor tell me that I should use Ibuprofin for the muscle pain and tylenol if I need it and that should be fine I will scream! I will be seeing my OGYN next month and she wants to put me on hormonal stuff for my endo. I plan on telling her that I am not interested in going into medical menopause or any other pill that will mess with my hormones (since I just got my meds into a mix that works well). I will also tell her that I am interested in pain management and if she will not provide it, I will find a doc who will.

I truly understand that docs have to be concerned with addiction etc., but there needs to be a way that they can provide the pain relief to those of us in need!
