Different symptoms or something else?

Okay, haven't posted here for a while. But I'm getting real concerned.

Normally in the past, when I had an anxiety attack, I would just get short of breath, hard time breathing and very dizzy. Scarey enough! Granted the last year has been one big stress ball snowballing. But things have calmed down in the last couple of months. But starting about 2-3 wks ago, I started have these other symptoms. I posted this on the "ask an Ivillage librarian" board also, but thought maybe I should post here too. I know you all would understand.

My symptoms now are - I'll start with a funny headache like I could pass out and get kind of nauseated. Then here comes the heart palpitations. And sometimes the difficulty with breathing. My blood pressure and pulse rate will go absolutely bonkers for 30-45 minutes. My blood pressure drops extremely low and pulse rate up to 120 so far is the highest. Completely way out of my range and I become so weak, I can't get up. This just hits out of the blue. I thought it might be my meds, but I tried starting all over and added one at a time. Nothing! I still had the episodes while off the meds. I will also feel tightness in my left and slightly middle of my chest and the left side of my neck. My anti anxiety meds don't help either. It scares me as heart disease runs in my family badly. I'm not overweight at all.

Do you think my panic attacks are just changing or should I call a doctor? Maybe it is the after effects of the stress. I'm really scared!

Chris

Hi, Chris! It's nice to have you back. You've been missed. Not being a physician, I can't say what is going on. It is best to be seen medically & be sure. There are alot of conditions out there that can mimic panic. Thyroid problems is one & it does cause palpitations in some folks. It would give you alot of reassurance

I'll call my regular physician Monday. Hopefully it won't take forever to get in. Made it thru the night with no episodes. Hopefully today will be the same. But I just started with the headache. Hopefully it is just sinuses. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep coming back. I do miss this board. It's always nice to know others are out there with the same problem!

Chris
