Hi there! I am 25 years old and feel like I am going through some sort of mid-life crisis! Weird...I know. I have a 6 year old daughter and I CONSTANTLY worry that I am going to get a serious illness and/or die and leave my family behind. I worry about every little pain that I have or get. I have had the dizziness and unreality. (I never knew there was such a thing as "unreality" before I read this board.) Like I said, I have the constant nagging worry about something happening to me. I have had a brief chest pain here and there, and have the shortness of breath every now and then. I used to have panic attacks pretty often when I was younger, and was prescribed Buspar (long time ago), but I rarely have them now. I find it hard to get to sleep sometimes. I somethimes also feel my heart "jump" into my throat and middle of my chest, but it'll only do it once or twice....that's enough to scare the crap out of me though! I have always been a very positive person, but in the last 5 months or so, this has been an every day, all day thing. Since last October, my husband's granpa, his dog of 15 years, and his best friend's sister (only 34 years old and left a 5 year old daughter behind) passed away. I had a miscarriage back in October too, but I am well past that.

I have never been one to express my feelings that well. I have always felt like others would think I am weird or something. (Even though I know that's not true) When I start worrying, I get sort of upset with myself and want to cry because I am so tired of feeling this way! It is SO not me to be like this! I am not on any medication and haven't seen a doc about this yet.

Any help, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Tigerfly,

You certainly sound like you suffer from an anxiety disorder. I suggest you go to see your doctor and consider taking medication. I also suggest you consider seeing a counselor. You need help and support. Reaching out on this board is a good sign that you want to get better. I know that medication and counseling have helped me a great deal. I am also trying to learn to meditate. You should give it a try too :)

Good luck!!

Hi & welcome to our community! You are not alone. Many things you mentioned are common among us who have confirmed anxiety diagnoses. Selena gave you some good advice. Get yourself checked medically. There are illnesses out there that mimic anxiety or contribute to it. It will give you much peace of mind.

It does seem that you have managed to survive through alot of stressful life events. However, they take their toll emotionally & we can never gauge that. I am very sorry to hear about the miscarriage. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Don't be a stranger. Keep us updated & ask questions anytime. Try out our chats. Our folks are very good about sharing their experiences & new ways to cope. They discuss their meds, too. Good luck & GBU. (((hugs))) jan
