Hysterectomy scheduled, sick kid too

i saw my OB/GYN yesterday, and we scheduled my total hysterectomy (as in, take everything out, including ovaries, tubes, etc) for a week from today (tuesday).
i had to take DS to his dr as well, he has a severe sinus infection (again!), what looks like strep growing in his throat, and an accelerated heart rate. she put him on really strong antibiotics, which will take care of the throat and sinuses, plus breathing treatments 3 times a day. he is home with his sick mommy now. luckily he is tolerating the breathing treatments much better than i anticipated. i am upset that i had to go to a different pharmacy and they didn't explain his meds to me well, just the breathing machine (for which i'm grateful, don't get me wrong!). so i left his anti's out all night, not knowing they should be refridgerated! uughhhh. that's ok i guess, as they were in our rather chilly kitchen all night.
i am sad and anxious about my surgery, but at the same time resigned. stop here if you can't read graphic descriptions. LOL.
my dr told me during my last surgeries, in the D&C they clamp the cervix to stretch and suck out anything inside. he said it moved so much, he was able to pull it 3 inches outside of my vagina. literally OUT. i apparently have a VERY severe case of uterine prolapse. i am glad we already made our decision and were firm, DH went with me. he did suggest the possibility of stitching the uterus up, which may or may not hold for 3 yrs and i could never lift more than 20 lbs. DS weighs 33. no question in my mind, it wouldn't work for me and it wouldn't stop the severe pain issues. there are just too many 'maybes' involved, nothing is absolutely for sure.
my dr was impressed that we were so sure of ourselves. i am glad we did it. DS needs me now so i'm off.
