Gaining weight from Paxil CR

I have been on Paxil CR since November and have gained 15 lbs. That was a major concern of mine but my Dr told me it shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Will it continue or will it taper off? Will I ever be able to lose weight?

Hi & welcome to our community. It's a pleasure to have you here. Weight gain issues with meds are a big topic here. It's very individual to the person & the med. There are plenty of reasons weight gain occurs & it might not be the meds. If you are feeling better about yourself, your appetite may have improved. You may not realize that your activity/exercise patterns have changed. If you aren't as anxious, you may not

Sometimes the horrible truth is that when you feel good you eat.

Thanks for your advice. I have been trying to get up in the AMs and work out. I walk a mile on the treadmill and raise the incline, then do hand weights and situps. I just bought some resistance bands today, so we'll see how those work. I live in Nebraska so I'm looking forward to warmer weather when I can take my dog for more walks outside! :) Shawna

Thanks Jan for your advice! I live in Nebraska so I'm waiting for spring and warmer weather so I can take my dog on a walk outside more. I've been getting up in the AMs this past week and working out, hopefully I'll notice a difference from that. I've been parking aways from my building at work and walking up and down stairs instead of taking the elevator too. Thanks again for your advice. Shawna
