Anyone else ever experience this?

Hi Everyone
I have a concern and hopefully I am not the only one who had/has this problem. Lately when I am trying to read something I am not comprehending what I am reading. Sometimes I get the words messed up ..or seems as though I am reading backwards .. I sometimes have to keep reading it over and over. If I am watching TV or someone is talking to me it's almost like I am elsewhere and I have no clue what they said or I'm looking at them talking to me ...and I haven't a clue as to what they said (feel like I am in my own little world and I am constantly asking DH to repeat himself). I went to the doctors today fearing a brain tumor or something seriously wrong ..but she didn't seem to be the least bit concerned ... and needless to say I am obsessed with it and it's totally freaking me out. Anyone else experience this or something similar? Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.

Hi there. I totally understand what you mean. I recently have had this same thing happening. I will talk to someone then cannot remember parts of the conversation a few mins later. Or, I will read something or see something and then cannot remember it. I take Zoloft and know that short term memory loss is a potential side effect. It has been happening for the last few weeks now. Stress and anxiety and having a lot on your mind can cause the memory loss too. If it is just short term types of things you are not recalling, then you are probably fine. One thing someone said to me was "after you forgot something, when you realize what you forgot later on, does it seem familiar like oh yeah, now I remember so and so saying that, or oh yeah, I remember doing that or seeing that - OR - do you not have any recollection at all once someone has pointed out to you what you forgot? I do seem to recall what it was once I realize it or someone points it out to me. For example, let's say my husband told me about an event he wanted to go to. I remember talking to him last night about it, but cannot recall what event it was. Then later he mentions the event and I think, oh yeah, I remember you saying "something" about that. So you see, it was in my memory, I just could not recall it for some reason like maybe stress or anxiety or the med. That makes me feel better to know that.

Hi Jan and Kim
Thank you so much for the responses ...it makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one and really helps me to deal with it. Anxiety can be a very scary thing for the new and the old. I have had OCD and PAD for 7 yrs now and still ... I am experiencing new symptoms.
Jan: thank you for taking the time to repost the mind excercise article as well. I sure can use it :) ...
Kim : I always forget something as well and then either remember it later or when someone says something to remind me ... Normally it wouldn't bother me ...But sometimes it just seems my mind feels the need to 'pop' a thought (What if it's a brain tumor ..ect) and then kicks everything I have into high gear and has my mind and body feeling and thinking the strangest things.
Thank you so much again ... I really appreciate it ... you both made me feel so much better
Huggs,
Marilyn
