I was wondering if anyone here has heard of taking Zoloft for anxiety? I know that anxiety and depression usually go hand in hand, but has anyone heard of it helping anxiety? TIA

Hi, Robyn! Nice to see you again:) Many of us have taken zoloft or other meds called SSRI's. This family of drugs are used as antidepressants, but they are also used for anxiety disorders. They effect the chemical imbalance in the brain that causes our anxiety. So, if you are asking if zoloft can help your anxiety, even though you don't feel depressed? The answer would be, *yes.* You are right about depression & anxiety going hand in hand. It does for many of us. So, for those who suffer both anxiety & depression, using zoloft is like killing 2 birds with one stone. Here's a good article on iVillage explaining the meds used for anxiety. HTH Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Hi Robyn! I take Zoloft for anxiety (100 mg/day) and I find it helps a lot! I don't feel depressed either, just anxious. If you have anxiety, you might want to try this. It has a lot less side effects than other drugs. I think Effexor is another drug prescribed for anxiety. If you want to see a whole bunch of people's comments on their experiences with a drug, check out askapatient.com. Keep in mind the responses start at level 5 (people who love the drug) and then when you scroll all the way down you get the level 1 ratings (people who hate the drug). Good luck!
