A New Perspective

This evening I decided to relax and read a little. I was reading the book “The Power of a Positive Mom” by Karol Ladd. I am hoping to become a more positive Mom and I have read other books of hers that were great so I decided to give this one a try.

As I was reading the book of course I am having my usual panic symptoms and then I came across a section that seemed to speak right to me and I thought that some of you might find it interesting as well. I am not going to type everything it says but you will get the point:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6-7 Notice Paul doesn’t say, “Consider getting rid of anxiety.” No, he is quite straightforward: “Do no be anxious.” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also addressed the topic of worry.

Once again we are told in no uncertain terms that we are not sposed to worry. The truth is, when we wallow in worry and give in to our anxious fears, we are actually disobeying the instructions of the Bible! Have you ever thought of worry as disobedience? In our culture, fear, anxiety, and worry have become so commonplace that few people realize that they are disobeying God when they do those things.

Not that these makes it easier to deal with our anxiety but it does put a whole new perspective on thing!

Thanks for sharing your new perspective, Sarah. I know that prayer is very helpful for me. Many folks get alot of comfort when taking their problems to a higher power. Using our views on spiritual matters can be very effective. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
