Hello Everyone I’m 21 Weeks Pregnant and I have A Anxiety/Panic disorder.

They told me it was normal for your heart to flurter when your pregnant, scents its beating for “2” I guess that is understandable. But I’m Scared and I guess I just need to hear it from others. I am thinking that its just my anxiety acting up, and causing my heart to feel like it’s beating weird, its not a steady thing, just happens every so often, and when I take a deep breath, I feel better… I am just trying to think positive. Any reassurance would be great… What is your ideal? Should I wait in-till the 13th and talk to my doctor again about this… I guess I am just a 21 Year Old Mother-2-Be With anxiety that is worried. My Husband has been great understanding my feelings, and is reassurancing me its ok…. *Sighs*

Hi, Evelyn! It's a pleasure to see you after such a long time. I must congratulate you on the coming bundle of joy! You are so very lucky.

I am going to sound like an alarmist, but you must remember that I have anxiety, too. I wouldn't wait to see the doctor on the 13th. I would call now. Just to keep you & the baby safe. It is possible that pregnancy causes hearts to flutter, but I would want to know that for certain. I have had the palpitations(palps for short) or fluttering. It does make you stand up & take notice! LOL I am able to use my breathing & relaxation techniques with success. But, I see the doctor regularly & have had a recent heart check.

Good luck to you. Please keep in touch & let us know how things go. We sure would be pleased to hear about the baby's arrival! Sending P&PT's your way. (((hugs))) jan

Hi Evelyn,

I have palpitations as part of my anxiety. And they did increase when I was pregnant, and I was told that was normal, like you were. You can certainly call your doctor beforehand to check on this. I think doctors understand you don't want to take any chances when you are pregnant. I halt the palpitations with breathing, too. I take deep breaths, and they stop. Congratulations on the pregnancy. I was 22 when I got pregnant the first time, and went into labor on my first anniversary! lol
