Your anxiety treatment seems to be working for you.
If you're feeling better and not experiencing intolerable side effects from medication, most likely you've found the best drug -- or combination of drugs -- for you. Keep taking your medication and continue to monitor your use with your doctor. Even though you're feeling better, it's important to stick with your treatment plan. Keep in mind:
There's more to beating anxiety than simply taking medication. Eating right and eliminating anxiety-provoking substances from your diet, such as caffeine or nicotine, will help. Aerobic exercise may help ease symptoms of anxiety. Relaxation techniques, like meditation or deep-breathing exercises, can also be effective.
Consider supplementing medication with group therapy or individual sessions with a psychotherapist. Combining therapy with medication is the most effective way to treat most anxiety disorders.
When taking antidepressants, don't stop your medication even if you're feeling better. Discuss the length of time you must take your medication with your doctor.
In the future, if you notice that your medication is not working as well as it used to, speak to your doctor.
