Is there any difference? I personally like the klonopin the best but p/tdoc prefers xanax which works ok, Was wondering if Atavan might be any better?

Hi Danielle,
I am of course new at this and I don't know much about meds.
The klonopin is working wonders for me...(thank God) 1st I am wondering why your pdoc doesn't want you to have that? If it works for you then why not?

Anyway, my cousin took ativan, she was VERY anxious and almost suicidal. She said that it made her feel really spacy and out of it, I also don't know what dose she was on. Of course we all know that everyone reacts different to meds.

She is now off all meds but keeps a prescription in her wallet just in case..

Don't know if that helps or not. BTW I have never heard anything but good things about xanax...

Talk soon!

From the info I've read, the ativan works quicker, like xanax, but doesn't stay in the system as long as klonopin. That might mean more doses, but if you need it, that should be your priority in making a decision. I only had ativan once & I was out for hours. But, like a previous poster stated, I'm of a sensitive nature. Also, I hadn't slept for weeks. HTH, Danielle. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

Hi chatsalot34,
You sound like me!
I have always been petrified about taking meds. Like you I don't even like to take tylenol.
I have learned (with the advice from women here) is to trust my Dr. and not read the insert that comes with my prescription.

I just started lexapro for anxiety and started taking a very low dose of klonopin.
I had suffered for 3 weeks because I was so scared to take the klonopin.
Now I am so mad at myself for suffering for so long.

I was scared but I had dh read up on the klonopin and make sure that it was safe for me and that I just took it. I was SO SCARED but in the end it was made such a HUGE difference. I don't feel anxious or out of reality. I can start to feel it when it starts to wear off but I know that it will work and it will help.

I LITERALLY cannot believe that I went through 3 weeks of pure he^& just because I was scared to take the med.

I just wanted to tell you that I undertsand where you are coming from but that meds do and can help. Try to put your fear aside and listen to your Dr. I think that you would be pleasently suprised...you don't need to suffer.

I prefer the xanax. I couldn't even function on a low dose of klonopin. I had to literally hold on to the wall to walk at work. It was horrible.
