Hi, I just wondered if anyone has tried any type of meds(prescription, over the counter or homeopathic)for dizziness? When I had my 1st major PA they gave me something, but the pharmacist told me it could be purchased over the counter also. (I will have to look in my messy med cabinet and see if I still have it)But I just wondered if anyone has tried anything for the dizziness/vertigo we get, and if it has helped! I would be anxious (ok,bad word! LOL!) curious and willing (that's better!LOL!) to try anything safe to take, when needed...Any Advice? TIA! shasta
p.s. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Hi shasta, I have had a dizziness problem and vertigo, and they don't know from what. But they gave me some Meclizine 25mg and it seems to kick it. It is a prescription drug though. Hope this helps. :) Amber

I, too, have taken the meclizine 25 mg for vertigo. It is a prescription, but can be purchased otc as Bonine. You will find it with the car/motion sickness medications. Read the ingredients & look for meclizine. A pharmacist told me about it when my MD wouldn't prescribe it anymore.

Hi, Shasta! I just re-read this post. It takes a while for my brain to engage sometime. How about dramamine? Is that the OTC med you were thinking of. It has been around for years & I know folks who take it successfully for motion sickness. That can be for flying or riding in a car or bus. I think it helps with the dizziness, as well as the nausea for those @ sea. Just a thought:) TTYS (((hugs))) jan

P.S. wasn't there an ear thingy ppl wore a couple years back? A clip? Or maybe it was a medication that was applied to the ear. Another *senior moment* folks. LOL Don't laugh too hard. You'll get there soon enough!

HEHEHEHE, yes dizziness , unsteady gait etc. Dramamine is fine and dandy but make sure to try the non drowsy kind or u could have another problem on your hands. Even that i have found makes me sleepy. tootles, Amber

Such a complex word for nosebleeds, thats something i learned that is new today:)

i haven't taken it since i started the xanax, not sure about combining the two. I'd ask your doc if you could take it with any meds you are on, or ask at the pharmacy counter. I took 1 every 24 hours & it worked that long for me. When it finally stopped working, after many years, i went on the xanax.

I take it as needed. It works somewhat quick, i think within a good half hour. I am not on any other meds at this time though. I would definetly talk to your doc about it:)
