I went to the doctor a few days ago for a routine check up and my blood pressure was elevated. they ordered me to come back three more times for consecutive readings. I've gone back twice so far, and my blood pressure was still high. Im a little worried about this, because Im only 25 and not overweight, plus Im physically active. It's not extraordinarily high, but still above average.
has anyone else had to deal with this problem?? Im really worried that it can bring on some bad health problems :( I know that's just my anxiety creeping in...but I dont see the doctor until Monday and I know i'll be worried until then.
anyway, I just needed to vent a bit.

Hi, Mia! It's not unheard of to be in the best of shape & have high blood pressure. I am certain your doctor will order blood work if it's high enough for concern. Then, you can progress from there. Maybe a lower salt diet or meds or *water* pills(diuretics) will be necessary. The key here is to find the problem early if it exists, then follow the treatment to a *t.* I understand what a concern this will be for you, but try to keep it in perspective. If the pressure was high enough to put you in danger, they wouldn't allow you to walk out of the office. That happened to a friend of mine recently. The dr. insisted the ambulance be called & wouldn't allow my friend to drive herself to the hospital. She was really angry, but it was for the best. She's on meds & doing fine. You will be fine. Sending P&PT's your way. Keep in touch. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

A couple of natural remedies that can help are celery and also passion juice. Google those with high blood pressure and you'll find some info. My dad has HBP and these two solutions work very quickly to reduce the pressure. Oddly, even though I've had panic attacks for 7 years, I have very low blood pressure (except at the moment of PA of course).

Good health,

Let me ask you something very important: Do you take your bp at home? If not, then buy a monitor. I have VERY high bp when at the doctor's office, but its very low at home. I have a condition called White Coat Syndrome. In other words, I get nervous (even if I don't feel like it) in the doctor's office or any medical setting, and my bp goes way up. It was 156/100 last time! At home, its only 110/60 or so. Very low. My dh and I have checked my bp in the car on the way home, and within 15 minutes of leaving the doctor's office my bp is back to being very low again. The same thing happened when I went to the ER for heart skips. They wanted to put me on an IV to lower my bp. I had a hard time convincing them that I didn't need it. Sure enough, on the way home it went back to normal very quickly. There is no point in going on drugs to lower your bp if you have White Coat Syndrome. In fact, this could cause your bp to go TOO low! So make sure you have normal readings at home. If your readings are also high at home, then its safe to say your bp really is high. I have to take Xanax before every office visit. This keeps my bp from spiking. Its sad, but I have no control over it, lol

My blood pressure is normally low also but visiting certain doctors makes it elevate-
I suppose it depends on how I feel about the visit!
Sounds like a good idea to take it other places as well.
My husband has hbp also he does well on meds! Has never had
a reaction to them! So don't worry the doc will help you out!
Take care, Judy
