I have been so dizzy lately and I have been trying to decide if I want to take a meclizine pill that was perscribed when I had my major p/a.
At that time they also gave me ativan.
Does anyone know if it is ok to take this med with alprazolam(xanax)?
I am probably going to HAVE to make a doctor appt soon, even tho I dread going, because my alprozolam has no more refills. But I have to wait for my insurance continuation coverage to kick-in first after going from COBRA to portability.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanx much! shasta

Shasta Have you had any other panic attacks? Do you know why you are so dizzy?
Have you had your ears checked out? or do you have allergies?
I am very dizzy mine is related to allergies and ear fungus! YUCK
I know how annoying it is!! Ativan is an antidepressant and if you
are not having panic or depression seems to me you don't need it??
BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DOC!! Take care and answer the questions for me--- =0) Judy

Hi Judy-I don't take ativan, only xanax, right now (However I did save some ativan from the major p/a just in case of an emergency) I have had 2 really major p/a that sent me to the emergency rm, Once in an ambulance, what a nightmare! Yikes, Don't ever want to do that again. And minor ones occasionally. I have no idea why I have been so dizzy the last couple of weeks, It is just yucky, because there is so much I want to do in my yard. It is like my equilbrium is off, so it could have something to do with my ears, and I have a terrible headache in my eyes. I used to only get this during my period, but I went off the pill several months ago, and haven't had much of a period since, so I am not sure what is going on.
So you get dizzy with allergies? Because I have been sneezing quite a bit the last week or so...I guess it could be lots of things. I am such a mess! LOL! I have so many health issues both physical (I have kidney, bladder, and female probs to boot!) along with the yucky mental stuff! With that ear fungus you have, not to get too graphic, but is it clear or colored yuck? I should be getting an insurance card here shortly, so I can make a dr.appt. I am scared to go, out of fear of a p/a, I have hardly left the house in a year and a half. I do feel good that I forced myself to go to the garden center to make a return, get some suet for my baby starlings, and stop at the market today. But I was real dizzy at the store for a sec-which probably isn't good, I would feel horrible getting in an accident, and hurting someone!
I bet you are sorry you asked me the questions now huh? LOL! So sorry for the book!
Thanx for listening and for throwing some ideas out there for me to think about.
hugs, shasta
p.s. What do they do for your dizziness that accompanies your allergies/ear fungus?? hope they give you something to help you!

Hey Shasta,

I have allergies. In the beginning I didn't know that.

I was complaining of my head feeling "big" and I was dizzy and had a headache. My Dr gave me nasonex. That seems to help with it.

It was hard for me because I was confusing allgergy symptoms with anxiety symptoms thus causing more anxiety.

My dr had offered clariden (sp) for my allergies and I declined but now I am thinking that I could use and allergy med.

Check with your Dr.

Meclizine will definitely help with the dizziness. I used to take it (self-prescribed) for pa. I'm not sure if you can take it with the xanax. The meclizine you only take once every 24 hours, so it must stay in your system for awhile. call the pharmacist. You can buy meclizine otc.

Shasta, please see a doctor to uncover the reason behind your dizziness. I don't know anything about meclizine, but just get the doc appointment over with. I do hope you feel better soon!!!

Hey Ken-I talked with dh tonite, and if I don't feel better by the time I get my new health insurance papers, I am going to make an appt because this is not fun. I want to work in my yard! I think it probably is allergies or something to do with my ears or eyes, I have had a headache in my eyes for a while...So somethings outta whack! weird thing is my anxiety is a little less, so I guess a little good comes with the bad! LOL!
hugs to you and baby b! shasta
