Hey Girls,
I went to my pdoc today and he wants me to up my lexapro to 30mg, I am on 20mg now.
He said that the recommended dose is 20mg but he has given people up to 50mg. I am scared to take more. Scared to take more then the recommended dose, I am afraid that in a few years they will find out that going that high has really damaged me somehow.
He also wanted to give me something to sleep: he was actually pretty adiment on it. I told him that I didn't want anything and he said that its almost a guarantee that if I don't get a good night sleep that I will feel anxious the next day. I told him that I want to try other techniques 1st and see how that goes.
Since I left his office I have been so jittery and on edge. Its awful. I feel so bad, I even told my kids to leave me alone for a few minutes, I just want to cry and not stop. I am having a hard time holding it in. I did manage to MAKE myself go grocery shopping after I left his office, I felt that I needed to get that done and not

I take ativan as needed, but that doesnt even do much for me like whenI 1st started it. I wonder if your Hormones arent making u more anxious.
I know you said your doc wanted you to take the higher dose, but did you end up taking it? I can understand your reservations about it. It is good that he just went up a little, though. When I was on Zoloft, the dosage jumped from 25 to 50 to 100. There's definitely a difference, but it's a good difference.
Glad you made an appointment for a physical, just to ease your mind about this stuff. Female troubles are no fun. Hope you're able to find time for some rest, even if it's just a catnap during the day while your sons nap. My husband said something rather, umm, enlightening to me today after I awoke from my nap: "You're less cranky when you sleep." How about that! Anyway, I do hope you feel better soon. Take care.
Most of today's antidepressants work on serotonin levels
Stress affects your entire body. And your cycle depends on several body parts to run right, particularly the glands. So, stress affects your period. I started having problem with my periods when my stress was up, too. I honestly don't think there's anything to worry about there.
Although Lexapro is a newer anti-d, it's cousin, I forget the name, has been around longer, and I think it would be safe to try the 30 mg.
Try to take some deep breaths and tell yourself it's okay. ((hugs))

hey Danielle,
Is that you Dr. or your pdoc that wouldn't go over 20mg of lexapro? I know that my normal PCP wouldn't increase it and thats why she turned it over to my pdoc. He is handeling all the meds now and I am just seeing her once a month to get a check up.
Glad dh will be coming home soon.. geeze time flies!!!!!!!!!
Hugs & Prayers,
Danielle
