Ahhh, thanks, Jan. This rings so true on a day when I am attempting to make a maternity skirt without a pattern. :) I'm going really slow, so it's taking all day. Right now, I'm trying to keep my Bernina sewing machine from eating the knit front panel!
Background: I had been trying to do too many projects at the same time, so nothing got done. At my last therapy appointment, I revealed that for a long time, I'd had that at the back of my mind. My therapist, along with my husband, suggested that I focus on one thing and don't do anything else until that one thing is finished (or if I've decided to just quit).
I read an article a couple of months back about this, Kendra. It said that when we *thought* it was ok to have a million projects going @ once, it really wasn't. That some of the projects don't get enough attention & turn out as poor work. Also, it contributes to our stress & frustration whether we like to admit it or not. It happened to me over the weekend. I was watching DVD's but doing umpteen other things @ the same time. My dd kept asking, *did you see that?* Of course I hadn't & now have some regrets that I should have limited my distractions & concentrated more. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we're on top of our game, even though we're playing alot of bingo cards. LOL Keep up the good work. (((hugs))) jan
Thanks, Jan. You too. :) Funny enough, since I typed that post, I was sewing along, slowly, taking breaks, and I ended up having a freak accident with my machine--which warranted my husband coming home to help me. Umm. It's funny now, but I got a piece of needle (3/4 inch) impaled in my finger. It was bad, but he got it out for me. Stupid thing wouldn't budge. Oh man, talk about anxiety! I was in tears just from the shock of it all. Now we're just watching it to make sure it doesn't become infected.
As for DVDs, I find that I too want to do other stuff while watching. It's a challenge to just live in the moment, but we must do the best we can.
Take care. :)
Kendra But, I won't give up! I just need one of those darn finger guards for the machine.
OMG! I am so sorry, Kendra. I can only imagine the pain & the panic waiting for dh to arrive. Will you be ok? Does it need tended by a dr? Please keep safe. (((hugs))) jan
Oh yeah, I'm fine now. It looked a lot worse than it felt. I just found my thimble and will use that for the remaining sewing. I just cried a little and tried to get it out myself. My husband is way stronger, though, and had these industrial-strength tweezers from a previous job. Oh man. Now I just think it's funny. I'm such a goof. Thanks for your concern, though. OK OK, I will admit that for a moment I was putting myself down for trying so hard to focus, focus, and my carelessness just got me hurt!

So yeah, there are no instant results. :) Thanks.
