Hey I haven't posted in a couple of says and I just thought I'd pop in and say hello. i have been feeling better lately--anxiety wise. I still don't feel like my old self, but better is definetly better. I am not sure if it is the xanax and resperidal, or the lexapro (5 weeks) but I am starting to feel major changes. Whenever I begin to feel a wave of anxiety I actually say outloud "Ohh shut up" and it seems to make it go away, its kind of funny. I think I am more annoyed now with all of this junk than anything and it is helping me overcome anxiety that comes my way. One bad thing is that my depression has gotten worse, and I am not sure why. I have this terrible fear and feeling of hopelessness and death. but hey, better IS better!

How is everyone else? Does anyone have any updates or meds that are helping them? Thanks so much for all of your support. Your comments all really helped me when I was at my lowest. I am sure this battle is still not over--but thank you so much for how much you have all helped me so far.

Hi Katie,

I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better. Its such a relief... I know.

I just upped my lexapro to 30mg last week. So far so good, I have had some side effects but not bad enough to make me stop.

Hopefully the lexapro will be the right med for both of us ;)

Take Care and let us know how you are!

Hi Katie! I am not sure if you keep a journal but it
sure helps me and my therapist! He reads mine and can see
patterns I don't see right away-- I also read back over the
older notes and see how much stronger I feel!
Depression is a tough one! It can have so many causes
perhaps when you write and let yourself write what you feel
it will come out!! Take care and be good to yourself!! Judy

So glad to hear that you are feeling better... You're absolutely right - better is better.

A question for you - how do feel the Xanex has been working? How often do you take it? How long does it take to work for you? Does it simply relax you or also help to clear your mind? I have a prescription and take it as needed - usually I try to make it through without the med and only take it when I really feel that I need to, but I'm thinking it would help for me to use it a little bit more and not to be so scared of it. Sometimes, though I feel like it just makes my body real relaxed and almost loopy and that my mind is still running wild. Maybe I'm not sure what it's really supposed to do ... Any info on this would be fabulous!

Congratulations again on your work to make yourself feel better!

Hopelesslydevoted--

Actually I take xanax (.25 mg) 6 times a day, or I am allowed .5, 3 times a day, depending on how I feel. With me, it just kind of brings me back to reality and relaxes my body. Sometimes this isn't a good thing, because it puts me to sleep a lot during the day, but sleeping is a ton better than feeling anxious and panicy! I usually carry .25 of xanax on me, and if I feel an attack starting to brew, I take it quickly (but usually just having it with me is enough). To clear my mind, I take resperidal 3 times a day, Im not sure how it makes me feel or what it does, my doctor just makes me take it lol. Sometimes taking xanax 'as needed' isn't a great idea, because you dont know when to take it, or it can be too late. It takes about 10 minutes to kick in for me though. Best of luck with that--is your anxiety like major, I mean do you get attacks and everything? Or is this a mild anxiety problem?

-Well I spoke too soon, yes I still feel better, but I woke up in the middle of the night with a mini attack and my entire body was numb--oh well, I didnt have to go to the hospital!!
