to drive while having xanax in your system? I keep forgetting to ask my p/tdoc. She made some kind of comment like it was ok but since I'm not sure I thought I'd ask.

I would say it depends on how you feel when you take it. You've driven on base, right Danielle? I'm sure it's legal, but wouldn't do it if you feel impaired in any way. BTW, where were you last night? We had a blast on chat, lots of laughs!

I don't feel the lest bit impared when I take it Sherri Ann and I have driven on base while on it. I just wasn't sure how good of an idea it is.

I take .5mg of xanax as early as every 2 hrs. It really doesn't make me sleepy or impared in any other way but I know a lot of people that say it does those things to them. It's a fast acting anxiety reliever. Generally it works in less than 30 min for me which is nice becuase it's so fast.

I suppose every state has different regs, but if the dr. prescribed the xanax I think he would have said you cannot drive with this. If it was the first week or so taking it, I would say be careful in case you get sleepy. If you're an airline pilot, I think this drug as well as the other benzodiazepines are *no-no's.* I do know that the benzos can be picked up in a drug screening test. If you had a bad accident & were tested & found to have a very high dose in your system, there could be legal issues. But you would have to take alot more than the dr. prescribed. When it comes right down to it, IMHO it's personal responsibility. Like you said, Danielle, if you aren't impaired there probably isn't a problem. Ask on your next visit & let us know. (((hugs))) jan
