Hey all! The weirdest thing happened to me last night, it was kind of scary and I was just wondering if anybody else has ever experienced it...
I woke up in the middle of the night and this hot and heavy thing plopped on my lap (what woke me up) and when I grabbed it, it was all hot and mushy feeling. Well it was my left arm! I tried to bend it at the elbow...wouldn't bend. I tried to move my fingers...not one finger would even move in the slightest bit. It didn't hurt or tingle (so I know it wasn't asleep) it was just as if it wasn't even there. I sat up and it just fell to my side and felt like a heavy thing hanging on my shoulder. I picked it up (I was a little scared by now) and put it on my lap and tried desperatly to move my fingers. Eventually it began to tingle and get pins and needles and began to work again. Within 5 minutes it felt perfectly normal.
What is this? I know I wasn't sleeping on it weird because the same thing happened the other night to both arms, just not as extreme. Is this anxiety/med related or (I know I am a hypochondriac) is there some kind of disease or something that would trigger something like this?
I am going out of town today to visit my aunt with my mother (gosh i hope i do well there.) I am afraid I will have a panic attack at my aunts house, or that this will happen again. I am also afraid that what if this happened to my chest or something and my heart stopped. ahh it never ends, please help! thank you all!

Well I am not at my aunt and uncles house. The carride was a little anxiety filled, but I made it ok--yay! Also, my uncle is a physical therapist, and told me that since I am sleep deprivived, from all my meds, and because I take sleeping pills, I probably not moving in my sleep enough and am pinching the nerves--my aunt and mother both told me this has happened to them. This comforted me a lot so now I have one less thing to worry about. I hope that everyone is having a great day and is feeling well. God Bless!

Katie, I'm glad you made it there safely. I usually wake up with one of my arms being as you described (but never both). I think it's that the meds knock me out & I don't move around much in my sleep! It used to scare me, but it's been happening for so long that it doesn't anymore. I'm glad you're having the gp check it out on Monday - keep that appt:)

Katie,
Sometimes this happens to me, too. And sometimes it IS both arms. I went to my doc, and he recommended a chiroprator. Sometimes that seems to help. I do tend to have tendonitis, though, too, so I am not sure if that it part of the cause.
I hope your doctor has some answers for you. Have a good weekend!
