Hi Heather -

Does your son feel any better? Any news? Almost time for the doctor's appointment ... it's great that he could fit you in and I'm sure Ryan will start to feel better in no time ... Relax and come talk if you need to!

Keeping my fingers & toes crossed that Ryan is ok. It's always a good idea to get things checked out quickly. You're doing all you can, Heather. Sick kids & anxious mothers are a fact of life. Sending P&PT's your way. (((hugs))) jan

Heather, he probably just caught what your stepson has. Ian complains about leg pain & back pain sometimes, I think it's just growing pains - I've taken him to the doc for just that before. It never ends, does it ... Email me when you get home & if you want, I'll meet you in chat :)

Hi all,

Just have time for a quick update. I am fighting off an attack. I feel as though i am crawling out of my skin. I just took a klonopin and I have my tea so hopefully I'll be ok.

So before we left for the Dr Ryan cried for about and hour straight and I have to force him into hi carseat along with two other kids in tow. ( I had taken his temp. beofre we left and it was 102.8. We got there and he was shivering and lethargic, he wasn't making any sense at all. I called dh, I was really scared..

The nurse took his temp with one of those ones that you rub in the forehead and it showed 101.2 I asked her how accurate it was and she told me VERY. I instited that she take it underarm and she did but she was pretty PO'd. It came back 103.3... I was right.

The Dr came

If you wake during the night, give them some motrin or tylenol, whichever you are using. The temps always go up at night. Ian had a rash and sore throat a couple of weeks back, I thought it was a strep rash, but since he doesn't have a doc here, I gave him the motrin for his temp and he stopped complaining of a sore throat. I hope it was just a heat rash!

I was telling my dh how upset I was about dd and the conversation you and I had. I was telling him how my anxiety was so bad that day & he said it's normal. Anyone would have felt the same way, even if they weren't prone to anxiety & panic attacks. So I guess my point is that you are naturally nervous because your little ones are sick. This isn't a set back, it's the normal reaction a mom has when the children she adores are sick. I hope you enjoy your bath. Ian has a dentist appt at 8:50 a.m. for his 2 cavities - talk about anxiety! lol

Heather,

My sons have gotten that leg pain when they have a virus/fever before. Make sure you keep up the fluids, that and rest/sleep are the best things for them. A tepid bath is good for bringing down the fever. I'm sure you know that, but just wanted to remind you. Sometimes when we are nervous, we don't think straight.

That makes me angry about that nurse and the fever strip. It's common knowledge those are not very accurate. I'm glad you stuck to your guns about taking the temp another way.

I know you are tired of the nerves reacting everytime something happens. Consider yourself a work in progress, as far as your getting over the anxiety. I'm glad you keep posting here for support. How has DH been with supporting you?

Hey Renee,

Thanks for you advice.

I ended up buying the Be Kool gel sheets that stick to your childs forehead. It cools them down but isn't cold and it sticks but doesn't get stuck or hurt to take it off. They worked great and we used them at night when their fevers were really high. They are expensive but so worth it.

Anyway, How are you? I have been thinking of you. How is dh? Have you gotten a job yet?

Check in and let me know how your doing...

Hi Heather. I haven't seen those gel things. They have so many new things since mine have been little!

I am working for the summer, but dh isn't yet. He had an interview today, but no good. He has another tomorrow for a good-paying job, but it involves like 75% travel. So, I will let you know.

My anxiety is pretty good. But I did get stressed today, when I walked in the door of work today, and they informed me I'd be doing the phones. Yikes! 5 lines, forwarding, paging, voice mail.... I made it thought, and only accidentally hung up on one person! Whoops!

Thanks for asking.

Renee
