This is the first time I have taken it this morning. It makes me feel a bit detached and groggy. Will this side effect lessen with time? I don't really like this feeling, but I guess it is better then anxiety. Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!

The xanax made me very sleepy in the beginning. It took about 2-3 weeks for that to go away for me. The xanax itself has been wonderful, really relieved the anxiety once I got over the fear of taking it. What is your dose? Maybe he can let you start out taking 1/2 a tablet to minimize the side effects. Is it helping with the anxiety?

ITA with Sheri Ann. That sleepiness will go away in time. Be careful driving. It may feel as if the dosage is too much for the first few days. If it still does in a week, then I'd check with the dr. Some ppl aren't used to taking meds like this & are more sensitive to the *groggy* effects.

That detached feeling has always been a sign of stress/anxiety for me. Not the meds. In time it will fade away. I do hope you feel better soon. Keep in touch. Let us know how you're feeling. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Hi Xanax helped me a lot with anxiety- at first it
does make you feel sleepy I imagine you are exhausted
from all the anxiety! This will pass in time as the
others said. I also take Paxil which is an antidepressant.
Take care! Judy

i'm a 24 year old male who started my life phase with frequent anxious attacks (they started in September, 2004) with many of the symptoms. I take xanax as needed; 0.25mg ( a light dose ). Initially the xanax knocked me out but over time it seems much more bearable. Fortunately when i take the xanax it seems to rid me of anxiety symptoms throughout the day. However, being such a light dose there are times when these attacks are able to surpass the effectiveness of the drug. I hate panic attacks!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, as your body adjusts to it, you won't be as groggy. It'll just calm you, which is wonderful.
