hi . i have been reading on this board for some time and the depression support group and havefinally posted.like everyone's story mine is complicated. i have been diagnosed with GAD and major depression about 2 years ago and went on Paxil.it totally sedated me which i did not really mind for a while after all of the worry, panic and confusion i had been living-comatose all day while kids at school- pull it together when they came home- tried to be the best mom i could be- they are older now 17 and 13- my life. got off paxil in feb and trying to do it on my own- had trouble with pdoc and no talk of tdoc.life has gone bACK TO PURE PANIC AND ANXIETY FILLED DAYS- I WANT TO COPE, CHANGE AND LIVE A GOOD LIFE- BE ABLE TO HOLD A JOB- WHICH I NEED- HAVE FRIENDS- PASSIONS. BUT THE WORRY AND ANXIETY CONSUMES ME 24/7
CAN'T SLEEP HAVE TRIED MELATONIN, OVER THE COUNTERSLEEP AIDS AND AMBIEN- CAN FALL ASLEEP BUT WAKE UP WITHIN 2-3 HOURS. MY HUSBAND SOUNDS LIKE tOM cRUISE NOW AND WANTS ME TO CHANGE ON MY OWN, EVENTHOUGH HE SAYS I HAVE BAD GENES- FATHER AND BROTHER BOTH DIAGNOSED WITH BIPOLAR. I AM GLAD FOR THIS GROUP AND THE KIND PEOPLE WHO FREQUENT IT. THANKS

My dh also wanted me to be a stronger person & do it on my own without meds. Finally, after seeing how bad I was getting, he knew I needed medS & counseling. Since I don't drive (i have a fear of driving now), it has been a problem. Today, for instance, he needs to leave work early to get me to counseling, which is about 3 blocks away since I still won't use public transportation or cabs either. I'm just starting to leave the house with him, and wish I could walk over there, but the fear is still too great. Anyways, he has come around and I think that has helped my progress alot. Knowing he is there for me and not mad about it anymore. My therapist had a 10 minute session with him once (against his will - we caught him by surprise in the waiting room) and I think she enlightened him as to the reality of agoraphobia, panic attacks and anxiety in general. I'm sure she also stressed it is treatable and that I needed his support. Is counseling an option for you? It sounds like you need to be back on meds, just to get through this rough spell and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you will continue to post and come to chat. You sound like you are suffering alot. I've been there just recently and my heart goes out to you.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear that things aren't going well. Can I ask how you were doing on that paxil, did the side effects wear off? Why did you decide to stop taking it?I am not familar with paxil, is it normal to feel comatose? Maybe you should try another med...
I am on lexapro and klonopin
I went to the pdoc today- was able to get in - a small miracle just when i needed it- he put me on the same meds you are on and i feel positive for the fist time in a while. i am hoping my husband will be supportive when i start to feel better. he is a good person- but very frustrated.
p.s. your children are beautiful
I hope you do as well as Heather does. Things will work out with you dh & you. I think the men sometimes feel so helpless in this situation and don't know what to do. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Don't forget chat at 9:00!
