Buspar - Causing Nervousness?

I have been taking buspar for weeks now (6 or so). Anyway, dr upped my dose about a week ago and told me to pick up the prescription (which I did) and then use what I had by taking a double dose. Okay, "did that" for about a week and could not get away from this anxious, nervous, constant feeling.

Here comes the really stupid part. I realized last night that I had been taking double doses of the new presciption which is really twice what I should be taking. Do you think that a severe increase in buspar can cause such nervousness. I cut back this morning and did not even take as much as the dr wants me to be up to to try to get some out of my system. All day nothing feels better, until a little while ago. I am starting to feel less anxious. I don't know if this is in my head or if the total double (quadruple?) dosing did it to me for the past week.....

I feel pretty ridiculous, not even looking at the label. I feel irresponsible and like I brought this on myself.

Sorry for the rambling, just wanted to know if anyone else experienced nervousness and/or insomnia when going on Buspar or increasing the dose.

Alison,

I am not famiiar with that drug, however, I do know that when I increase my lexapro I get more anxiety for about a week.

That may be the case with you, expecially since you are taking double the dose. I would just cut down to your normal dose and see how it goes for a few days.

Take Care!!

Let us know what happens...

No matter how silly you feel for taking the incorrect dosage, it was a mistake, Alison. Please be safe & tell the dr. right away. All meds effect each of us differently. That double dose may have been more than your system could handle. I am concerned & don't want you to get scared. Just be safe. Let us know what happens. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
