I know that working out and physical exercise is supposed to helpful for relieving anxiety symptoms, but im having the opposite reaction. I haven't had anxiety in weeks and now everytime i get done working out I feel anxious and edgy. has anyone else experienced this?? is there something wrong with me for feeling this way? im worried :((

Does it have anything to do with your increased heart & respiratory rate after exercising & the feelings as they go back to normal? I know for me, that increased pulse can @ times trick me into thinking that I may be going into a PA. The same thing happens when my sugar drops. I have to do my belly breathing & relaxation till my sugar comes up & my pulse levels out. Just wondering, Mia. Try to keep the positive thoughts flowing. (((hugs))) jan

Hi Mia, I am so sorry you are having anxiety, I hope you are feeling better by the time you get this post.
I was thinking the same as Jan & Suz. And Suz had a great point in saying a mantra while feeling that panicky feeling. For me,I tell my 'Shake it off' and I just keep saying that to myself, and then try to do something that keeps me busy and makes me focus on something other than the icky feelings I am having.
Do you think you are trying to push yourself too hard on the exercise?
Please don't get discouraged. We are here for you, so please post soon and let us know how you are doin,K?

thank you so much for your supportive responses! I went to the therapist today and decided with her that I should create a plan for my self to go to the gym at 3 - 4 times each week and slowly work through the anxiety. Even if I can't get back to running right away I can try power walking or cycling, something that isn't quite as anxiety provoking for me. Most of all she reminded me that I can't speed up the recovery process, and that Im doing the right thing by trying to get back to the gym.

thanks again!
