One anxiety lifted

I think since I returned from New York I posted that I had a baby shower. That was really nice--lots of family and food. I just got the four boxes of gifts in the mail this past week. It's amazing to think a little girl will be wearing embroidered gowns and appliqued onesies. I am tempted to buy a lot of fabric to sew with, but I have to keep slowing down and just do one thing at a time. Ahh, so tempting.
I haven't picked up my knitting needles lately, and I know I have to finish her (my baby girl) blanket before she is born. I'm trying not to be so obsessed with deadlines, especially now that we have new ones looming:
We got a house. :) I don't think I shared this info, but we'd been looking at houses out in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for a couple of months. It was getting frustrating because the prices can get ridiculous, and, well, DH and I aren't ridiculous people. Anyhoo, our Realtor clued us in to this one *modern* house (a rarity!) just off the highway. It didn't have a basement and wasn't at least 1,500 square feet, but you know what--it looked like it was freshly built. All new everything--appliances, a/c, carpet, and there was a shed out back. The space is used really well. It's a modest home--nothing flashy. It seemed to be priced right, but we didn't feel comfortable negotiating lower because another offer was on the table. The words "bidding war" were mentioned. Good grief. I didn't want to go through that.
So, we made our offer of the asking price with some escalation clause (that we never had to use), and hours later I got the call that we were accepted. The sellers wanted to move up the closing date, so that's fine. We close August 31 and will have a whole month to move in! No rushing! That's the best. So it's nice to have that anxiety off my plate before the baby is born. Of course, now I feel a little guilty about borrowing the down payment from my father (he offered), but we have a plan for repayment. I'm just uncomfortable about accepting help, especially in that form.
I'm also a little anxious about my weight. I gained too much weight on my vacation, and the doc noted a weight spurt. I just have to watch it because I don't want to gain too much by the end of my pregnancy. I'm still eating but just watching what I eat (well, OK, except for yesterday at Arby's). It's tough to look at myself in the mirror sometimes. I'm not used to this body shape. I liked the cute little bump, but to think that Mia is a pound (maybe a little more by now) and my belly is way more than that--it's just hard to digest (pardon the pun).
Well, my back is killing me, so I'll put this to a close. Hope everyone is taking it easy during these sweltering hot days. Stay hydrated!
Kendra :)

Hey Kendra! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HOME!!! I was wondering if you guys had found one yet. And it sounds really nice. How many bedrooms? And how are you going to decorate Mia's room? That is so exciting, This is your first house, isn't it? Can't wait to see pics! And I am glad you have plenty of time to pack and move, so that you don't over do it.
I don't think you should worry yourself about your weight,You are a tiny thing, and I don't think having an Arby's is going to make you gain too much weight, you eat pretty darn healthy from what I have known of you! Plus, you are feeding Mia too! ;0)
Sounds like you got lots of pretty things for Mia in the mail this week. Isn't that fun to get a gift in the mail? :0) Sounds like you have a good start for her.
Do you have another shower next month too, back home?
Well I better go, it sounds like you are doing really good, I am so happy.
You take it easy, and don't over do-it. Now is the time to really pamper yourself, relax, and enjoy this time with dh. Talk to you soon!
hugs,<3 shasta
WOW! Congrats! Sounds like things are really falling into place. I know that borrowing from family is a concern. Like you'll be ending up on Judge Judy with a repayment dispute, but that won't happen. LOL
Thanks, Jan. Yeah, it is a positive--although a stressful one! We plan to make a tidy profit in the next few years so we can pay back my father. :) Anyway, thanks.
Kendra
Thanks, Jan! I don't know about the weight gain in the last month, though I understand that I could swell a bit. My wedding ring still fits, so that's good (my diamond engagement ring is too tight, though).
I just worry that I'll hurt the baby if I get too big, like with preeclampsia or something like that. Thanks for sharing your experience with your kids, though. It helps to hear another's perspective.
The doc is weighing me again tomorrow, so I'll just hold my breath and hope for the best. :)

Thanks, Shasta! It's a 3/2, and this is our second house. We had the first one built back in Florida. It's very clean and has recently been remodeled. I'll probably do Mia's room in animal prints. I might paint a mural (based on a huge stencil) on one wall. I'll buy a lot of the stuff at IKEA because it is inexpensive.
Ahhhh, so much to think about. It's overwhelming but happy at the same time. Thanks for your kind words. :)
