My dh finally let me drive his precious truck today, lol! I brought it up last night when we had company because I keep asking and he won't let me. They were shocked! We were friends with them when we lived in NC 6 years ago, and they were our next door neighbors when I stopped driving. They understood. I told him he is "hindering my progress" in a joking way. I guess he must have thought it over. I asked a couple of times today & he didn't answer. Then we went out to the lake, which is 10+ miles down a dirt road & he pulled over and asked if I wanted to drive! Ian (my 4 y.o. son) said "mommy's a better driver than you, daddy!" It was too funny. I didn't drive on the main road or in traffic, but it's a start. I honestly felt I was in a video game!

Thank you Elaine. When I think back to where I was 6 months ago, I am truly thankful to have come this far. It seemed impossible at the time. Finding this board & others that had the same exact symptoms as me was truly a life saver (especially Judy - your symptoms and successes inspired me most!)

I swore I had replied to your post last nite! I don't know what happened there, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS on driving! That is a great step forward and you should be proud! I think you and I are kinda in the same boat with having trouble leaving the house, and driving. I am like you, getting better, but it is definitely 'baby steps' for me! My mom kinda thru me for a curve today, she was suppose to be here at 10:30 for a visit but ended up being about 2 hours later! This drove me nuts because 'the waiting' is what increases my anxiety. But after she left, I went to the store, returned some cans, went to the bank, and did make my goal to drive to the Farmer's Market, somewhere I had never been (and alone to boot!) and I got a bunch of fresh organic veggies. I was only there 20 minutes and it was scary but really freeing at the same time. So I know how good you feel about getting out and driving, I think we all are doing great! Way to go Sheri Ann. Thanx for sharing your success! Looking forward to hearing from you soon! hugs, shasta
Shasta, you sound great in your post. I hope you are doing well :) It's definitely a LOT of baby steps! I just wish I could get my life back together enough to get a job.

I am with you Sheri Ann, I just want to get my life back together enough to get a job again too, I really want to take the stress off my hubby. He is self-employed, so that is stressful enough. What does your dh do for a living? Mine is a independent contractor, but specializes in custom made furniture. He is really a wonderful artist. (sorry have to brag about him! hee hee!)
We had a really nice evening, and he LOVED the fresh farm veggies. I had them all laid out on our picnic table, so he could see all the pretty colors of the baby carrots, toms, red leaf lettuce, zuchinni, and the fresh jar of huckleberry jam as soon as he got home! (If you haven't tried Huckleberries, you should! They are a treat!)
I was only at the Farmer's Mrkt. for less than 20 mins. but it made me smile, and my hubby too, when he saw the 'goodies' on the picnic table :0D
Here's to BABY STEPS, Sheri Ann!
We can all take them together everyday! hugs, shasta
