Irregular (strong) heartbeats & hot spot

Hi List,

Here's my thing - I have irregular STRONG heartbeats. Yes, I get other anxiety symptoms too, but the palpitations really scare me.

Mine can come and go all day sometimes. I've seen a Cardiologist and he said my valve's not leaking (that's good!) and that I won't die of them... I asked if stress/anxiety brings them on and he said "maybe"... That was it!!! I should've asked more questions, but I didn't :-(

What I want to know is do any of you out there, like me, get the same thing happening to you? Somedays I don't get any, some days, like today they were around all day!!! Pretty scary really...

I also get a HOT feeling (like on the skin) mostly in the middle of my chest, but on the odd occasion it spreads further and under my arms. I KNOW it's all to do with anxiety, but it'd be nice to know if anyone out there has similar symptoms.

All of the anxiety symptoms, no one would never know I'm having them - are many of you out there great actors too! ;) I don't use any meds as I worry about any side effects... See there's that word again "WORRY!" ;)

Other than that I'm a happy, bubbly person.

Thanks for letting me share...

Jewlie :)

I know the feeling and I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Sometimes I will lay in my bed during the day and my heart will go nuts and I just sit there and feel it. It feels like it could pound out of my chest and it goes at the weirdest beat. I also get that hot feeling but it is all over my body and it really scares me. Just know that you are totally not alone and that you will get through all of this!

Thanks for your reply. I was really apprehensive about posting (my first post) and it's just such a relief that there's someone else out there that experiences something similar.

Thing is, YES, it's just another symptom and it's such a comforting feeling that we're really not so alone....

Mwah!

I get the palpitations and hot feeling too, so much so that if I feel overheated it has become a trigger. What I tend to do is get a glass of very cold water to help cool me down. Somehow I've associated being hot to feeling anxious, and if I can cool down some, it helps.

Nice to have you here. I hope that getting that first post out of the way was a relief & now we'll be seeing you more often! You are NOT alone. I have the *palps* & the hot & even cold sensations. Those of us with anxiety tend to feel or be more sensitive to such things. Rest assured that the palps will not harm you. They do come out more under stress & can really increase if you smoke or use caffeine.

Post anytime. Join us in chat, Jewlie. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

OMG... I could have written that post!!! I have EXACTLY what you are talking about and have had them for years, but after a break from them of a few months, they came back (I just began taking Lexapro, Geodon, and Lotrel... Geodon states to call if irregular heartbeats occur as they could be serious). Well, I went to the ER at recommendation of the phone nurse, and they did an EKG and all is well. The ER doc said it could be a panic attack (they were REALLY frequent at the ER and on the way- 30 min drive), it could be tachycardia (a brief run of a high heart rate- not harmful). They don't know, but it was happening a LOT during the EKG and nothing showed up. I don't have them only when stressed, though, and asked if panic attacks could happen without a sense of anxiety/panic and he said yes. Anyway, he took me off the Geodon (it was making my heart rate too high). I have OCD, GAD, and social phobia. I don't get the warm feeling on my chest, though, I get a warm/tingly feeling in my chest, though. I know what you mean about no one knowing of your anxiety symptoms... people can't believe I have a problem! If you want to talk, email me through my profile! I'm so surprised to see someone else with this "problem"!

I'll have to look up the chat session, however with me in Australia and a lot of you in the US, times for chatting might be a bit hard...
