What are you taking to control your anxi

What are you taking to control your anxiety? I am currently taking Lexapro (am on 10 mg for a week, tomorrow is my last day of 10 mg before I go to 20 mg). I was taking Zoloft, didn't work, tried Paxil for 2 weeks before doc took me off of it saying it would have worked if it was going to. I gave up and am trying again with Lexapro. How long should it take before I will know if it is going to work? I have GAD and social phobia (along with OCD). Anyone else taking this and is it working for you? I know it's too soon to tell for me, but am disappointed from the previous tries.
TIA!

I have GAD and I am taking Remeron for it. I also have Ativan for when the anxiety is really bad. I have taken Effexor in the past which did help but I wasn't on it long enough.I have been on Remeron for 9 weeks now, with 2 times of adjusting the dose, so I don't think its full effect has kicked in yet
Most medications take longer than 2 weeks to start working, so I am surprised your doctor took you off that medication so quickly.
Maybe you can ask your doctor for something like ativan or klonopin. They help for when your anxiety is really bad. They help to calm you down. It might be good to have a while you are waiting for the other medication to kick in.
I hope Lexapor will work well for you. Goodluck!
Nina
In the past I have had success with effexor SR, anafranil & luvox but am not on an AD currently. The AD meds board has alot of good info on these meds. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-bhpaxil&nav=start

I've used Valium, off and on, for many years.

Hi there,
I am currently taking 20mg of Lexapro. It works to a point. I definatly still feel anxious, but it's much worse when I am off it. I don't like the side effects of it. I feel like I am flatline sometimes. I want to cry, but I just can't. My father passed away a few weeks ago, and it's like I can't even cry about it. I definatly still feel the anxiety, though. Sometimes if it is really bad I will take a xanax. Have you ever heard of Wellbutrin? Sometimes the ssri might not be right for you. I know people have had amazing results on Lexapro, and you should feel a difference within two weeks. You might also want to try Celexa. It is the "sister" drug of Lexapro. Best of luck to you. Jolie
