holding your breath w/o realizing it

There are a lot of days I feel lightheaded and queasy while at my desk, and I finally realized that it's because without meaning to I've been holding my breath throughout the day. Then I have to remind myself to breathe. This only happens at work (where I'm stressed out--surprise!) and nowhere else.

Does this happen to anyone else?

This happens to me all the time and when I realize it I take a deep breath and momentarily feel better. I think my whole body is tense when this happens and the breathing is one of the things that just comes and goes. I think we have to remind ourselves to breathe when in stressful situations. I have been seeing an accupuncturist(sp?) and she always asks me when I am anxious do notice that I feel like I need to take a deep breath. Yes I say. So there goes another needle into my chest. lol Anyway, that seemed to help. Just had it done last night.

Maybe we need signs at our desks that say stop and breathe. My boss already thinks I'm a little quirky so would probably just laugh at my sign to myself.

Anyway, hope you feel better soon.

I undertsand totally what you mean. I have been guilty of it myself. That's why taking a couple deep cleansing breaths each hour are so important. It gets our oxygen level back up, reduces tension, refocuses our thinking & resets our

Laura, I've never held my breath per se, but whenever i get anxious, breathing is the first thing that is affected. I can feel my air passages
