Hi guys, I went to the dr again to day and he recommended Zoloft 25mgs up to 50 in a couple weeks... now I have never taken this and would really like some of your imput. He also gave me 1/2mg of klonpin. I still am not sure about meds, but I do want to get this under control The dr seems to think it is partly because I quit and that was how I coped with situations. He thinks a short treatment will be benificial, and doesnt see this as a continueous issue.. however if you could all give me the side effects that you have experienced and if it helped that would be so great!!! Thank so much Wendy

Zoloft worked very well for me when I took it last year. I'm not on meds at the moment and am doing all right. It felt like a real pick-me-up, yet my personality remained intact. It wasn't like wearing a mask, you know? The side effects were minimal and included fatigue, which dissipated in a matter of weeks.
Good luck!! Sounds like you're on the right track.
Take care,
Kendra
I haven't noticed much of a change yet, but my pdoc says I probably won't notice until I am up to the 100MG, so I am very optimistic. I have anxiety, panic disorder and agoraphobia...I also take xanax but will be switching to ativan once I am on the full dose of Zoloft. So hopefully Zoloft works for you too!
Also-I would like to WELCOME YOU to our wonderful board! I know you will feel right at home here. Please stop by chat if you get a chance...I don't get to make it much because I am on the west coast and it is dinner time then, but I do try to stop in occasional, and the gals are great! Take Care and please keep us posted on your progress,k?
hugs,
shasta
I started on 25mg of Zoloft and went up to 50mg a week later. 25mg had no effect on me at all. At 50mg, my anxiety completely disappeared. The only side effects I had were dry mouth (Relieved by carrying a bottle of cool water around with me. Healthier anyway.) and nausea (Relieved by taking Zoloft right before I go to bed). I also lost some weight since I've been on it. I'm not sure if it was because I felt nauseous at first or because I'm not turning to food for comfort.

Zoloft made me so sick to my stomach that I had to stop taking it. Through trial and (mostly) error I've found that SSRIs (Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, etc.) do not get along well with my body. The side effects to me aren't worth the benefits. SSRIs tend to make me sick to my stomach as well as completely zap my sex drive, and that's a deal breaker to me.
I've been on Wellbutrin-XL for several months now and am doing okay with it.
But everyone is different. If Zoloft works well for you, then stick with it!
