I'm rather new to message boards though I've been lurking here for about a month. Thanks to you ladies and the concern you show for one another I have finally sought help for my own anxiety. I've been put on the medication Lexapro and am now in therapy. My therapist has me keeping a journal and when I told her about this site she suggested I try to become activily involved. I say try because I'm a rather timid person and find it hard to talk with people I'm unfamiliar with, so bare with me as I would like to get to know the ladies here and become an active member of this board.

My name is Keitha (named after my father) and I'm a 55 year old female that has suffered with anxiety most of my life. It's finally reached the point that I'm afraid to leave my home. I live with my partner of 9 years in a small town in Kentucky. Along with the medication and therapy I use yoga breathing, meditation and prayer to deal with my attacks, any other suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

Hi Keitha. Welcome to the board. I've 31 and have had generalized anxiety disorder and depression (secondary diagnosis) for years due to biological and environmental factors. I've got some lovely family baggage to boot. But enough about me. :) Glad you've emerged from your lurkdom and joined our supportive group.

I completely understand why you waited a while to seek help. Sometimes it takes time to figure out what it is we need for ourselves. The important thing, though, is that you took that step to take care of yourself. Please know we are here for you, as we are for everyone who shares on this board.

Best to you!

Kendra
