Birth Control Pills and Anxiety

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with anxiety while taking birth control pills. I've tried Allesse, Ortho-Cept, Ortho Cyclen and Yasmin and can't tolerate the agitation/anxiety I feel. Has anyone with anxiety found a pill that doesn't cause anxiety or other unpleasant side-effects? I'm wondering about Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, for one.
thanks!

Hi! Nice to see you posting. I don't have any recent experience with the pill to help you out. I can say that hormonal changes accompanying our cycles & even pregnancy can trigger anxiety for many of us. Hopefully, some of our members will be able to share their experiences with you. Until then, please join in our discussions. Check out our chat schedule. We care about you & want you to feel better. Here's the link to the birth control board. Perhaps they have some info that may help. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

I have been on BC Pills since I was 18, and I will be 30 this year. I started on Orthocyclen, but switched to Alesse about 8 years ago and have been on it ever since. I started having anxiety problems in Sept last year and I am on Zoloft now and doing fine.
I do not think BC had anything to do with my anxiety since I had been on it for so long before the anxiety hit. I also did not have any side effects from Alesse that I can recall.

Hi,
I've been on bc pills for about 8 years without any such side effects. I took ortho tri cyclen for about 7 years, and for the past year i switched to lo. it never causes any anxiety or agitation for me. However, every body reacts differently. I wasn't even aware of these side effects. do you think it could partly be a placebo effect? are you nervous about taking medications in general? it's just a thought.
hi,
no, i'm not concerned about medications b/c i take other medications. but maybe i need to stick w/ the pill for a little while before i give up. i took yasmin for a while and had no problems. then i went off of it and tried to go back on it TWICE and had horrible anxiety. i don't know why that is -- my doctor said sometimes our hormonal makeup changes and that could be the cause. who knows. maybe i'll try another one.
thanks!
