during an anxiety/panic attack, what is the worst thing that could happen physically to you? would one pass out b/c of hyperventilation, does blood pressure skyrocket?? what are the worst possible consequences of these attacks, out of curiosity?

Hi! I can certainly understand your concern. I, for one, am entirely *TOO* preoccupied with my fears during an attack, so I try not to dwell on the *what could* happen. Passing out is a possibility, but not one that is common. Tony Soprano is a TV character. LOL Anytime the pulse rises, the blood pressure would as well. I have never heard of a blood pressure so high during an attack, that it was life threatening. I do know that all research clearly states that noone has ever died from a panic attack. I hope that gives you & all of us some comfort. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Hi, i think it's important to rememeber that nothing physically bad can happen to your while you're having a panic attack in the safety of your home, or in and otherwise safe environment. If you're driving, then obviously it can be detremintal. Otherwise, if you're sitting home or in an office, or anywhere else where you're not operating heavy machinery, nothing physically will happen to you. I've heard of people losing their balance and falling, but I think it's pretty rare. Also, during a panic attack your blood pressure rises, in order to pass out your blood pressure needs to drop dramatically not rise. It may feel like you're blacking out, but you're not.
