Hi- sorry I have not posted in a while. I do read many of the posts, though. School has started again and the activity level increased in the house- which is good for me. My 17 DD is doing great- playing field hockey, enjoying senior year and going through the college admission process. But, My 13, soon to be 14 DS is having problems with 9th grade. He got his progress reports and is doing poorly in his classes- missing assignments, low grades on tests, etc. He has always cared about school and usually tried his best. My main concern is now he does not seem to care. He is more concerned about the social aspects of school. He started on the crew team, which he enjoys. he needs to get back on track academically.

I know many of you have gone through this process with your sons and daughters and some of you are teachers. Is this something any of you have eperienced with boys of this age and do you have any advice? or webites of interest?

Obviously, this increases my anxiety level and i tend to obsess.
Thanks,
Elaine

Hi, Elaine! I don't have any experience with boys. I have way too much with my 17 yo dd who is giving me fits:) I would like to say that anytime a teen has changes in their behavior, habits, grades, it's something to worry about. I listened to too many ppl tell me that my dd's behavior was *just typical teen.* It was not! I suggest you have your son talk to anyone. Not necessarily a counselor, but an adult that you know he trusts. His coach, a teacher, his pastor, an uncle, etc.

Thanks Jan- you are right about the stress. Good Advice- i will take it. I don't really know what is happening with your daughter, but i know that you are giving her the love and guidance she needs- even if she doesn't see it or take it. Good luck and thanks again,
Elaine
