Have any of you ever had a dream that caused anxiety??

Last night I woke up from a dream and felt anxiety. In the dream I was experiencing one of my triggers and it carried over into my morning. This is bothersome for me because I was doing so well and then this happened. It has never happened before so I was wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar.

Lisa, for awhile there I was having the type of dreams you're speaking of two or three nights a week. I'ld usually wake myself up they would be so disturbing to me and would stay awake for an hour or so then when I'ld fall back to sleep I'ld start up where I left off on the dream. It got to the point I was afraid to go to sleep. That's one of the main reasons I finally decided I needed to seek some professional help. For awhile my doctor prescribed me sleep medication but since the Lexapro has finally kicked in I use it very infrequently now. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident for you and won't happen again. It is very terrifying and I'm very thankful it's been a couple months since I've suffered one of those type of dreams.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, I have had the same thing MANY times. A few months back it was my dreams causing most if my anxiety. In my dreams I woud be anxious and "go crazy" in my dream so when I would wake up I would still be scared and have a hard time making it through.

You are not alone in this!

Hi, Lisa! FWIW, I have had unsettling dreams that nagged @ me throughout the day. Most research indicates from what I have read, that dreams are our way of resolving our real daytime problems. Is there anything bothering you? Extra stresses? As you become more comfortable & balanced, these should subside. If not, you ought to talk to your pdoc or *T* about them. I hope it helps to know that Heather & others know exactly what you're talking about. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
