i have a question about atenolol....

i have a few pimples and believe the breakout is linked to the med. from what i've read, it is a possible side effect. i haven't changed anything that i use, so i assume its the med. my question is, did anyone else have this side effect? will it go away on its own, or do i need something else

wow that really sparks my curisity.i take the same med and have for 15 yrs i also experinced that.but over the years it has been much worse.going in the sun ,hot bath ,my period or anything that changed my temp i would break out.i have been threw so many test in this last year trying to figure this out.i had a biopsy which showed i may have lupus.did blood work which did not show antibodies in my blood for lupus.i still have follow up on this as my doctor told me that atenolol is on the list for possible causing lupus syptoms.i wont stop my med as it does me more good then bad.i think my doctor will change mine when i go back, but let me tell ya i was scared to death.i have this rash on my cheeks, chest and back and its just puffy red blotches.i found info on this from google.atenolol causing lupus.another name for it is tenormin.if my DO does change mine i know its a slow process as stopping it suddenly is very bad.

I am clueless on this one, Kimberly. I have taken the atenolol for 18 years & my 17 yo dd began taking it a couple months ago. No breakouts other than @ period time. Maybe by 12/5 this will have improved if it's just a hormonal thing. Always hard to pinpoint these things when you throw the female cycle into the mix. Keep us posted. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
