I made a little progress this weekend

As many of you know, I have panic attacks. I get very frightened when they awaken me from a sound sleep. Most of the time it's just anticipatory anxiety that nags @ me. Not actual attacks.

I always feared staying home alone overnight also. When I lived with my sister we had a dog (boxer) and she had an off duty gun in the house (she's a police officer) so I felt fairly safe when she worked nights. Anyway, when my husband moved in he worked a lot of nights and it was hard for me. Then we had that sniper incident (in MD/VA) and that did it for me. I couldn't sleep without him home so I insisted we get an alarm. It may be a false sense of security but knowing that the alarm would sound if someone entered the house and it goes directly to the monitoring company made me sleep so much better. Just a suggestion, if you can afford it. The peace of mind for me was almost priceless.

If you can do it on your own, which you already have then that is great. If it starts to bother you again, consider the alarm.

That is so great, Jan. I know how hard it is to stay home alone. When my dh went to help his mom move in NJ, I thought I would die being at home alone. I couldn't go, because Ian would have just been in the way, and he was gone for 2 nights. I can relate. Watch out, now the girls are going to want to leave you home all time time, lol. Crockpot apple butter??? You have to send me the recipe for that, it sounds soooo good. I've never heard of that!

P.S. We always keep our porch lights on, and some downstairs too-It lets the 'bad guys' know that someone is home, so don't feel bad about that! That is a great thing to do at night! ;0)
